Motor oil question for you boosted guys...
So what kind of motor oil are you guys using in your boosted cars? Assuming you engine was put together with looser tolerences due to boost, N2O or both, what weight oil are you using? Also, using conventional, synthetic or a diesel oil like Mobil Delvac, Cheveron Delo ect. I've heard of guys going the diesel oil route, which at first, i've never really heard of, but after doing some reading, it seems a lot of guys go that route, and after reading a bottle of Delvac for my Duramax, it's meets requirements for gas engines also, so it would seem to be an option also. Just wondering what benifits a diesel oil would have over others for applications like ours and if it's better to use a heavier weight in a boosted/N2O setup. Thanks.

I don't know about the deisel oil as I have never heard of anyone running it. Personally, when my motor was built, it was built with larger than stock clearences on everything, which better supports a thicker oil. Some people give me this face
when I tell them I run 20W-50 but that is exactly what my motor shop reccomended for my motor. It seems to run great so far. I know I could probably gain a HP or two by swapping to a synthetic thinner oil, but having my clearances that I do that thinner oil won't do the same job my thick oil does. I don't really mind this because the oil is a good 75% cheeper than going with the Royal Purple synthetic stuff I was running before the engine rebuild.

I all ways liked Mobil 1 10w-40 weight MX4T (renamed "Racing 4T).
It has a unreal amount of anti ware addtives, VOA's pop about 1800ppm of Zn and about 1500ppm of P.
That is great for the engine but can cause ash build up.
The New CJ-4 plus diesel engine oils have plenty of anti ware and are reduced ash for the new 2007 diesels.
I use Synthetic Shell Rotella T 5w-40 weight.

More than you'll ever want to know about oil: http://www.bobtheoilguy.com/
The green castrol got me really excited, i found some here in Vegas and tried it out last summer. Unfortunately, I too have larger than stock clearances and wasnt happy with the oil pressure. I'm running 15/50 Mobile 1 right now(the 1 gallon jug from walmart) but would still like a bit more pressure.
