Maxing Out MAF on 9# - 96 LT1
Re: Maxing Out MAF on 9# - 96 LT1
Thanks for all the suggestions. I think the plan right now is to put the 5# pulley back on it and see if we can get it running good on lower boost. I didn't see those high of air flow numbers with less boost. When the 5# pulley was on it before the car had other issues. Lots of things were changed (opti, valve springs, plug wires) and the 9# pulley was added. I'm going to try and talk the owner into buying a MSD box also. One problem I see is the car was never test run N/A after the rebuild so I don't know that it doesn't have some mechanical issue associated with the rebuild.

Good point. No way to tell if the problem is boost derived or not. But I do hope for your sake that it comes down to a simple ignition box upgrade. It'll probably make your life easier.

The MAF will max out under high boost. At a certain point, you cannot tune based off of the MAF after the point in which it is maxed. After that, I believe you have to go strictly off of tables. If you do a search, you will find a ton of threads about it.

You are not anywhere near maxing out the MAF at 4700 rpm. I think you need to search elsewhere like possibly the opti or coil... something ignition related. A wideband O2 could also help diagnose what is going on.
