m6 vs auto w boost

my m6 hates my @600rw supercherged 383!! only 33K miles on car and neeeds 2nd rebuild. The gears wine it doesn't shift good(barely takes 2nd at all) its a 97 ss car and I hate to take it out but really thinking an auto w/ a trans brake may be the way to go!! What do you guys run??? I know you can build the m6 to hold alot but its not cheap!!How big of a job is it to swap to an auto??? Curious what you guy's run and how they have held up on the street along with some hard launches!! BTW motor has 4K on it and tranny was fine till then!! any type of input is appreciated

I have beat the living snot out of my 95 M6, and other than replacing the clutch to a SPEC stage 3, it is all stock (including a stock flywheel). My RWHP numbers are in my sig, and I have ran slicks on it often, and it has never given me any problems.

The stock LT1 M6 will hold a lot of HP, however regular maintenance is expected. An LT1 Auto won't take nearly the abuse. You could always upgrade either to an aftermarket auto, or aftermarket M6.

I'd like to get it to run in the nines soon and don't know how hard it will be with m6??? I leave @5K and get 1.60 60 ft. times w/ full weight car which is why gears wine?? Any of you runnin a m6 in the 9's consistently or even deep 10's??

Mid 10's, launching mine off the limiter on a 200 shot, my t/o bearing is bent and that's it . I did put in a steel 3-4 fork, new blockers, and bronze shift pads.

I haven't been brave enough to leave on the limiter but i may try it tomorrow night in Darlington, I bet your 60ft times on a 200shot are darn good. Your car looks identical to my 97 when I first bought it other than year changes.
call911 if you don't mind what kind of times do you run1/8 n 1/4
97s10 what your 60ft n 1/8 times

Thanks

Still not amazing, the car bogs until the spray hits, which is like 5-10 feet out. 1.62 is my best, 6.90 in the 1/8 at 104.

Actually, my 614 RWHP Z hooks up in 1st gear with cold Nitto DR's, so its very easy to launch. Here's a video of me running against my buddies C5 Twin Turbo.

if you drive the car daily i would recomend 4l80e, its got an overdrive you can cruise all day and with a good converter will pull low 1.4 high 1.3 numbers with right suspension all day long.

Your problem could also be with your shifting technique, power shifting will cause the tranny to fail early. I've got 156K miles on my stock T56 with 593 rwhp. Most of the driving is on the street but it's seen 50 passes at the drag strip and is currently used to road race at Willow Springs.

Thanks for the compliments. Its my brakes that are chirping, and unfortunatly, its not because they need changed. I wanted to go all out with my brake pads for my Baer Track Pro system so I ended up going with Hawk HP Plus pads. They stop hard enough to make you feel like you are going to go through the windshield at high speed braking, but they chirp everywhere, and it is really annoying. I think the annoying factor is greater than the stopping factor though, in the sense that when they wear down, I might go for the Hawk HP pads that are a level below my HP Plus pads next time.

Love the video. Pretty amazing take off on the street. I expected there to be more skating around, searching for traction. Great show there!
