LT4 knock module and boost - yea or nea?

roller rockers, headers, adjustable guideplates - all making extra noise.
will it hide boost detonation?
you guys running with an LT4 module?
thanks

It will desensitize it, depends how much "extra" noise

I don't think it hides detonation. Once I got my car tuned right and wasn't getting false knock or real knock, I increased the timing it pulls for added protection and didn't lose performance. When it's all working the way it should I was just seeing little retard blips when it shifts and the load changes suddenly at high load and it probably knocks a little.

I suppose it should not hide 'real' detonation, or LT4 vette's would have all blown up!
I need to do exactly what you did Kevin, and for now I want to eliminate any 'false' knock, then tune out what remains. Guess I need an LT4 knock module...

I know some tuners have said the LT4 module only works right with the 96+pcms it was designed for.

Made a world of difference for me. My PCM was pulling like 10deg NA, until I put this in. Felt like i was running on 6 cylinders. Still picks up knock just fine, the Scanmaster shows it real time.

Exactly the same experience I had with my 94 - eliminated what appeared to be false knock, but I still saw knock retard on my Scanmaster when there was real knock - e.g. when I got a tank full of Sunoco 94 octane that really wasn't 94 octane.

Scanmaster saved my butt when i thought i was filling with Chevron premium, turned out to be an el cheapo gas station with the same color theme as Chevron.

OK, since I do not have Scanmaster, just logging my tunes with Data master - what we are saying is with the LT4 module, the ECM still hears detonation, retards timing as it should, and you guys verified this by the display on your Scanmaster.
Is that correct?
I don't need Scanmaster to actually retard the timing in 'bad gas' situtatins, do I? The ECM will do it for me as much as max allowed settings, right?
I have healthy max allowed retard - just to be safe.
So far in areas I have max retard @ 14 degrees it has pulled out like 5 degrees and quickly tapered down..sound like I'm on the right track?

Yes, correct, Scanmaster does not allow for adjustments, simply displays real time data, allowing you to see the retard. Love mine

Re: LT4 knock module and boost - yea or nea?

I have successfully ran the 95 PCM with the LT4 knock module and had no problems.
