Exclamation Lt1 Intake manifold

Not sure what forum to fut this in, but I am supercharged,so I decided to go with this one...

I am looking into aftermarket lt1 performance intake manifolds. I know about the lt4 im, stealth ram, miniram, lingenfelter, and that is about it... Which one would be better and WHY??? And are there any others???

Which one would suit me best for the following future mods:
383 forged stroker (8.5:1 compression)
3.73 gears (dana s60)
12-15 psi on my P-1SC
afr 215 heads??
custom cam grind

Thanks guys!

check out the edelbrock E-tec, made for standard SBC, single plane style, with injector bosses, but can be converted to fit the lt1.

but what is wrong with the lt1 intake?

there arent many upgrades because the stock lt1 sylte intake is pretty damn good out of the box

This is true. Unless you plan on spending alot of time over 6200 or under 4000, then use the stocker.

i honestly would not waste my money on the lt4 stuff, plus, if you ever want to convert a gen 1 sbc intake to your motor, i think you can only do that to lt1 syle heads, not lt4. (i could be wrong about this though...)

Problem is that if you want to use AFR heads, you have to use the LT4 intake. Also, old style gen 1 stuff will mate up fine to the LT4 heads - port-location-wise. In fact, alot of guys use FelPro SBC intake gaskets on the large-port LT4 stuff.

cool...i thought since an lt4 intake wouldnt go on an lt1, that the same applied vice versa, and since lt1 and sbc gen 1 intake ports are the same, just bolt pattern differs...it wouldnt fit on lt4 heads. hmm, learn something new every day!

so, if he goes with lt4 heads, he either has to run an lt4 intake, or convert a sbc gen 1 intake?

It's like this. . . The LT1 and stock LT4 ports are the same size, and in the same old SBC location. An LT4 intake will work perfectly on an LT1, but it's not needed. Typically, when you get a set of heads ported, or aftermarket large-port heads, they add port height. Both SBC and LT4 AFR 210's have the typical higher roof. If you try to use an LT1 intake on AFR 210's, you'll be able to see into the port because the LT1 intake doesn't have enough material on the top of the port. This is where the LT4 intake comes in. It has additional material on the top of the runners, so you can port-match it to the large-port heads and it will seal up. Some people have learned that you can weld some material on top of the LT1 runners at the gasket surface, port it, and it's just as good as a ported LT4 intake.
