LT1 Booststreet Testing...

took the T/A and got to see the boost gauge in action (digital).

1st gear - as soon as I hit 0psi the tires break loose.
2nd gear - as soon as i hit 1psi, the tires break loose
3rd gear - as soon as i hit 5psi the tires break loose
4th gear - I hit about 8psi around 4500rpm and i got off it because it is too fast for public backroads.

The one problem i have is my OBD port on the car isn't powered up. I hooked up an OBD2 scanner (which blinks if there are no codes), and it never turned on. this is why i can't get my tunercats to read. any ideas?

Congrats very nice setup!

In my car I cant use my scanner with the scanmaster connected... It grounds into the obd port which kills my snap-on scanner... Might want to check the wires behind obd port for damage or splices... Make sure all the pins are there too..

Wow, that's pretty amazing! Mine hooks up pretty good on a roll, but I don't think it's running at its potential - too rich.

Sounds like you're havin some fun now.

Thanks guys.

The only wire under the dash I tapped into was the ground wire for the cigarette lighter. I don't think that will affect the OBD port. i'll have to check the port wires again.

Time to work on the chassis and get some traction.

Do you have a serial port on your comp? Or are you using an USB port? I got fed up ith all the USB stuff and got a PCMCIA card for dual serial ports and that worked right away for my wideband stuff as well as Datamaster/PCM Logger. I used to be able to program OK with my USB port cable or my serial cable with USB adapter, but logging was unstable and it was impossible to do both programs at once. I think the most recommended drivers and chips for USB to serial adapters was the FTDI. I am just guessing you don't have a serial port since you can't get them any more. When I had a serial port lappy, never had any problems, whatsoever.

I don't think any chassis work will help for 1st and 2nd gear with this power level and street tires... but I got some 315 dr's that might do the trick.

I bought a used laptop with a serial port. I used my OBD2 code reader (I use it on any OBD vehicle to pull codes). the reader plugs in directly to the OBD2 (no laptop necessary).

you really only need 3 wires,....power, ground, and serial data. if it dont power up it gets pretty simple to diagnose. i do believe the power comes from the same ckt. as the cig. lighter, so double check you have power at the appropriate terminal. look at shoebox's site for the pinout of the dlc connector.

oh, and the DR's might help with the 2nd and 3rd gear traction, with supporting suspension mods, but nothing will help those poor tires in 1st gear with a 4l60 and gears lower (numerically higher) than 3.42's. But it sure is fun rolling out to 20 mph and laying into it burning rubber to 70 mph or better while accelerating like a bat out of hell at the same time!

There is 4 wires....2 seiral data ones on the PCM then power and ground.

On a 97 harness it is Tan/white and White/black off the PCM.
