Little help please...
Little help please...
Hey all....
I have a 95 z28 with a stock lt1 now I wanna throw on a supercharger like a vortech and am wondering if i keep the boost down if the stock engine will be ok? How much PSI...and do I need to get a whole new computer or can i use the hypertech 3 programmer and will that suffice? Thank you!

Take your Hypertech, and use it only for gear changes. They make a little more hp by adding timing, which is what you do NOT want for your motor. For best idea, try a search, because this topic has been covered a zillion times in this forum.
This post has been posted like a thousand times. (half of that thousand has just been this last week). Try a search. If you do, this is what it sums up to:
If you run very low intercooled boost (say 4-6 #'s) you should be okay, at least for a while. Eventually it will put extra wear on your stock motor though, and you will look to do a rebuild. At 4-6#'s of boost, you won't really be making very much extra power, and it will cost thousands just to get you there. It would be more cost effective to go with a good heads and cam package instead.
If you are dead set on a blower, then save up some money (trust me on this one, you'll need about $14,000 or so to do it right) so you can have your motor built properly to take more boost so you can REALLy enjoy what its like to have a blower car.

911 is right though, don't forget about all supporting mods also. They add up but are needed for a longer life.Ken R.
I've seen some guys manage to spend under $10,000 all together. When it comes down to it, it makes a difference not only on the supporting mods and parts, but the quality of those supporting mods and parts. I spent a little more than some people, but I know my motor will hold up better than others that were made with cheeper parts and supporting mods.

4k for d1sc tuner kit
1k in fuel upgrades
~~~Tuning
2400 for a new rear end (moser 9 inch in my case)
~500 for a decent clutch
Not including all of the safety equipment required to race at the track when you make huge HP
Point is it all adds up...CALL911 is pretty right on with the estimate. If you want to build a quality car, plan on spending some dinero.
