Installing a Surge valve

I have a procharger pro flow sure valve i know one end comes of of the discharge tube but where does the othe end connect to or can i leave that open or put a filter at the end? And will it make a swish sound like a blow off valve does? It is the black one that comes with their kits. How much boost are they good for until you need to upgrade to the red one there race version? This is for Lt1 camaro. Thanks

As long as your Mass Air flow is on the pressure side you can vent it to atmosphere. If the mass air flow meter is on the suckside of the blower then you must put that air back into the intake of the blower behind the MAF so it does get read twice. Procharger changed their design several years ago to put the MAF on the pressure side basically up top of the engine bay right by the Throttle body. If you have one of their older kits the maf goes by the suckside of the blower. If you have this older style kit I highly suggest modifying it to the new style.

Yes, it will make a swoosh sound if you dump to atmosphere. If you recirculate you probably won't hear it. I think procharger recommend putting a filter on the bypass. I didn't use one because due to the amount of air the F1A moved it always was dumping air and never sucked air in the bypass. Those proflow bypasses are pretty good as far as holding boost. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are like an on/off valve and frequently caused my tires to spin when I didn't command it! I bought a mondo valve when I upgraded from P1SC to F1A. It is very high quality piece and provided a smooth transition from vacuum to boost.

Hope this helps. BTW procharger will mail you an installation manual if you call them. It was a big help for me when I did my first supercharger install.

Steve

Is this considerd the pressure side? From the supercharger a pipe goes to the intercooler and from the intercooler a pipe goes to the mass air meter and then into the throthle body? thanks

Yes, that is the pressure side. The surge valve relieves pressure when the throttle blades are closed. The closer the MAF is to the throttle body the better. Venting to atmosphere will help cool the head unit but you have to clean the air filter more.
