This was moved off the LT1 forum, so we know that's the engine he is working with.

mike:

Suggestion: Add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods.

It all depends on what you have up to this point. Completely stock, A4 or 6 speed, tires, etc. As Injuneer pointed out, it's crucial information.
What kind of times in what distance (1/8 or 1/4) are you currently running?
Which STS system are you looking at? Upgraded turbo? Boost controller? ATA intercooler?

Not sure which one to get yet . Trying to decide a turbo or pro charger system? Want to get around 500hp or to get into the low 11's in the 1/4 mile.

Times depend on traction much more than power.
If your car makes 25hp per psi of (atmospheric) manifold pressure, you can expect about that per pound of boost. My stock camaro went from 15.0@92mph to 13.3@107mph on 7psi (sts) with bald street tires lol (high elevation)

If your car is already running 13's you'll be into the 11's for sure.

Here's my first track run: http://www.youtube.com/user/XXXXXXXX.../3/Jze91tN1Yyk

And if you're wondering about the rear mount turbo lag, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdjh3EY6shU

Are they pretty easy to put on then? I have only had 1 turbo car before and it was a 1988 Dodge Conquest TSI it ran good ran an 13.8 with it on slick's. I like the idea of the rear mounted turbo's. Also it said on their page that the base tuner package makes upwards of 680hp. Now how much more power would you get if you added their intercooler to it.

You might want to read that page again. What it actually says is that the turbo is rated up to 620 hp. That means it will push enough air to feed an engine that outputs 620 hp (fwhp, of course).

so you would actually have around 550hp at the wheels. How much can you put through the 6 speed with just a clutch upgrade? Not talking about beating on it all the time. what about the rearend I know it's not the strongest unit. As a rule of thumb we always change over to a 9" ford rearend at 450hp or more. Anyone make a bolt in 9" for the 4th gens. Also do they have an upgrade for the turbo.

If you're mechanically inclined and work on your own cars then yes, very easy to install. They do offer turbo upgrades (67mm).

You are still not reading it correctly. Their data sheet page isn't working at the moment, but b/f they had an intercooler available, I remember this: The system, with the larger turbo, 42# injectors, and a quality dyno tune, was rated right at 400 rwhp at 7# of boost.

For example, If your engine makes 300hp at sea level, thats 300hp/14.7psi = 20.4hp per psi of manifold pressure. Since flow is a product of pressure, If you increase your manifold pressure (boost), you can expect to gain about that same 20.4hp per psi.
So in this case 7psi would add somewhere around 143hp... not 300-something lol.

Well I was thinking of running a set of ported heads and LT4 intake, headers, LS1 Ing. Bigger inj, and bigger TB looking at a 58mm unit. I was also looking at their intercoolers and the water/methonal system. A set of 4.10 gears and an upgraded clutch. A billet crank,H-beam rods, forged ross pistons.

I was looking at those STS turbo systems. Awesome inovation. Wonder if you can make the same power as compared to a front mounted turbo system.

You know now that I'm thinking about it, using this system you can use an aftermarket k-frame instead of the bulky stock one now that you don't have all that front end weight!

There shouldn't be an issue using an aftermarket k member with a front mount system either. The extra room would definitely be a plus with the extra piping in the engine bay. I know I like mine.

My question is this: do you have to do away with your catback with an STS system? I don't want to get rid of my GMMG. And you can run long tubes with this kit as well, right?
