I think I found a LT1 to rebuild for FI, but I have some questions.

I want to go FI but from what I have read in here a rebuild is unavoidable. I want to build a motor for FI and then swap it out so I don't have much downtime.

I found a retired caprice police cruiser that still runs good and the owner is going to put a 454 in it. If I buy and rebuild this motor what are going to be the differences that will cause me problems? Any? I am assuming that it will have iron heads like an Impalla SS, but I will be buying some AFR's or something like that. Will there be any more differences or stumbling blocks? Should I just look for a f-body motor instead?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Hmmm..........I would think it would be an Impala SS LT1.

How do I tell if it is a "baby LT1"?

Thanks

Ok, I have seen that 327 marking on the LT1 in my car, thanks, I know what you are talking about. Are there any features I can see without getting under the car? It is still in the caprice for right now.

Easiest thing: try finding the RPO codes in the glove box, or wherever, and look for L99, which is the 4.3L code. If you find LT1 instead, it's a 5.7L.

1994-1996 B-bodies, the base had the 4.3L, 350 LT1 was an option. The 4.3L block will have "4.3" on the side. The only difference is the bore and stroke, no other external differences I guess.
