I just flashed a new prog with burst retard programmed out...

Okay so I take the car out after loading it and I'm crusing waiting for the temp to go up and to get into closed loop. So it finally does and my water temp is at 170 so I hop on the freeway and as I'm entering I hit it in second and go WOT through fourth gear with absolutely no knock retard. So I stop at the gas station, get gas and then I start the scan again. So basically when I can hit it and go full throttle all the way through a gear, knock only shows up when I shift... Before I was getting 6-7 degrees when I hit it or shift but now it only jumps up to a max of 4* sometimes. Keep in mind this is with the burst retard programmed out.

I go zero knock the first time I smashed it hard but after that I got a few degrees here and there and sometimes none... Should I have Brian pull timing? More gas? I don't know what I should do to get rid of that knock that only comes when I shift and then starts heading down. I don't even know whether it is real knock or not and its really pissing me off.

I have a log that I took that shows this knock that I'm talking about but I have nowhere to post it. If somebody will agree to look at it through email I would be grateful. I am trying to get this car to have zero knock at all times so I can have fun =)

I apologize if this is an ignorant question, but what is "Burst retard"? You don't mean "boost retard" do you?

Nope he means Burst Retard. I just recently learned of this myself, it is only in OBD1 computers and the parameters can be changed in LT1 Edit or the new version of Tunercat. It will throw in some retard on abrupt throttle changes as a preventitive measure to prevent knock, even though there may not be any knock registered by the knock sensor.

I mentioned this before on another thread. The OBD1 seems to be more sensitive then the obd2 is. I also see knock when initially flooring my car with the obd1 but not the obd2 pcm. I swapped in the obd2 knock sensor but this did not reduce it. I also put a desensitize circuit on the sensor but that did not help either.

About the best thing you can do is turn down the Knock Fast Attack Rate Per RPM and Max Retard Vs RPM (WOT). Then turn up the Knock Retard Recovery Rate. That should deminish the initial knock and allow it to recover quickly.

Now that my supercharge is disconnected I might make another run to see if it still occurs.

Doesn't it seem a little unnatural to have knock during a shift? Is there a load during the shift. Sure, 'stuffing a sock in it' will eliminate the signal to retard timing, but is it wise to do so, without actually knowing what is causing the retard, or determining whether it is genuine?

I'm not getting knock during the shift. I am get knock after the shift right when my TPS goes back to 100. I wish I had a server to put a link up.
