How to spend this money?

How to spend this money?
Here's the deal. I have a blown head gasket and I have 5,000 to spend to get it running good.
Should I get the heads & intake ported out and a blower cam along with the rest of the necessary stuff like injectors, timing chain, throttle body, gasket, valvetrain componets, ecm programming, etc...
or
Should I fix the head gasket and just do the valvetrain and the cam.
I am not an idiot when it comes to working on the car, but have not yet been inside the valve covers. Aside from installing the cam, setting valvelash and torqing heads to proper settings, what should probably be professionally done?
The way I figure it, I can buy everything I need for around $5300 but will have no money for professional installation for around another month or two. Or, I can skip the porting job and probably get it all done by a pro.
I do have access to a lift and an endless assortment of tools including air tools. Should I get a book on LT1 assembly/dissasembly or should I play it safe?
Then of course there is the tuning... plan on doing PCM for less or AI's tuning package along with a wide band dyno tune locally.
The other 2 things that are beating me up are the stock bottom end and the stock rear.
oh and a side question, if I get the heads done, what valve size should I look for? 2.02 intake, 1.60 exhaust or will 1.56 exhaust be better? Most of the heads I have seen advertised used 1.60 for forced induction. Why is that?

yeah I have the s/c and it is a stock block... maybe I should look at going 355 w/forged pistons and crank? I know that would be best in the long run I guess? Just didn't think I could afford to do that too???
Huh?

Prochargedz
I currently have a 355 setup in a car that I am selling. It is currently attached to a 10# Votech. Didnt know if you might be interested in something like that but thought I would mention it. The engine specs for the most part are in the for sale section under Miller96Z - 500+ hp Z28 for sale.
