Higher HP LT1 Guys -- Ignition question

Just wondering who's running an opti/ignition box setup and who's running something else (delteq/LTCC) and how your results have faired with each. Given the power goals I'm shooting for I'm just curious if the shortcomings of a single coil system are going to start to rear their head, even though this motor shouldn't see more than 6500 RPM on the top end.

Also, if you're running a FAST XFI and Delteq or LTCC, how was that install and what did it take to get working properly?

Delteq was an excellent ignition system but the only ignition box it would work with was very expensive. I never had any problems with it and it was easy to install. I just recently went to a stock opti and MSD BTM setup. I like my current setup better because it lets me pull timing based on boost and I get more torque at lower boost levels. It was also easier on the wallet. Delteq is about 675 and the Dis 4 with coil pads and boost module would be over 500.

Roadie had lots of problems getting the delteq to work with his fast box. Email him to get details.

I knew about roadies problems. I was thinking more towards the LTCC myself, but if guys are pulling this off on stock opti's and aftermarket ignition boxes, then I'm more that happy to keep that and leave well enough alone.

Nothing wrong with and obviously there are several people who chose to run the Opti-spark with their higher H.P. motors, but the known Opti "problems" won't be any less likely to occur in a higher H.P. motor and in fact may be more likely to appear due to the elevated cylinder pressures. Not saying that they will, just that there is a greater possibility. You're asking more from the Opti-spark in a high H.P./boosted motor and I wanted to reduce the possibility of problems, so when I ran the small Pro-charger, I opted for the LTCC system and it worked flawlessly, so much so that I integrated the same 8 coils into my current LT-1 Big Stuff-3 system.

I'll run the opti forever. A distributer is a distributer. The opti is even a better distributer than the conventional dizzy in theory. And a lot of hot rod guys made a lot of power over the years with a normal SBC dizzy. . . so where is the problem with what we got??

Now that right there gives me a lot of hope.

Looks like for the time being I"m going to stick with my Opti/Accel 300+/Accel Coil combo and go from there. Thanks all!

single coil with no igntion box blew out spark around 600rwhp. I've since gotten a surplus nascar HVS ignition box, and no more spark blow out. Not fouling plugs at idle anymore either!
