Question High boost single coil users. Questions

This goes out to all the guys running 18+psi. What is your ignition system consisted of? How are you managing to keep the spark from blowing out? As much as I hate it but I'm seriously thinking of going back to a single coil unit like a crane setup. I currently have the Delteq which I love for the record but I'm not to sure about controlling timing with at all w/ the FAST. 383 w/ F1-22-24psi. Really won't know until a couple of days when I fire it up finally for the 1st time. I also am not fond of the typical single coil setup putting all that stress on the opti but in the past I've had no issues w/ my Accel 300+ setup w/ the factory opti for 10 yrs straight. It seems more or like a hit or miss issue.

My ultimate would be the delteq w/ the Gen III dynaspark but again no timing control.... nd as far as the DIS-4 is concerned I'm not too familiar with it.

So again what setups do you have and how have they performed over time.
Thanks!

Marcin you aren't running a ignition box? That's pretty amazing if so.

Stock opti, MSD coil, MSD digital 6 box, 15.3#'s of boost at 7,000 RPM. I had issues on the dyno though of it blowing out the spark every once in a while at 6300 or so. After taking the tuners advice, we re-gapped the plugs a little tighter (if interested I'll try to get the exact gap specs). After that she would pull up to 7,000 RPM all day with no problem.

BTW, hows the car coming? You got that thing on a dyno yet?

Opti, Accel coil, MSD6, plug gap at 0.35, good wires (changed every year). No spark issues.

Call911 I haven't fired it yet. I was waiting on a clamp that never showed up but I'll fire it w/ out it this wk FINALLY. I was playing around w/ the base tune this wkend and made a copy of the original just in case the original does better than what I did.

B I'm running TR6's gapped at 0.30 as I didn't want to chance it w/ 0.35 even though that's what was recommended to me.

Why the tighter gap?

Very cold NGK's. Narrower gap requires less voltage to jump, however too small a spark can cost hp. It's a trade off.

Stock opti with MSD cap and rotor. Crane HI6TR and MSD coil. Plug gap at .025". 24 psi and no problems - with the ignition at least.

The turbo GN guys did a test a while back and found that every time they reduced plug gap, the power increased. They did see diminishing returns, though, so they stopped at somewhere around .018".
