Help on putting crankshaft hub and Hooker LT on

I am putting my engine back together and need a couple advices that would save me some time. First of all, how to put crankshaft hab back on. Then, I have my heads ported, and a set of Hooker Lt's waiting to be installed. Should I try put heads on and them try putting long tube headers, or try putting them on at the same time. Thanks for any advice.

You need to put the motor together before installing the headers. You will not be able to reach the head bolts with the headers installed. You need a longer bolt (1/2" longer should be fine) with the same thread pattern as the crank hub bolt to install the crank hub. Align the crank hub properly (green mark pointing straight up with piston 1 at TDC), make sure the bolt is in at least 5 threads, and tighten the bolt down. It will tighten the crank hub down. You can't thread the longer bolt in much before swapping out to the stock bolt. Put the stock bolt in and tighten till the hub is in all the way. Before you tighten, make sure you have at least 5 threads already in.

Hope this helps,
JR

Thanks a lot for the advice with crankshaft hub, this will definately help.

1) I am still not sure about headers and heads. Should I put the headers in without the heads on (just position them), and then put the heads on and finally bolt heads and headers together?

2) Or should I bolt heads on first, and them try putting headers in (sound scary). Last night I was able to position passanger side header in (don't know what to do with oil stick), but I could not get the driver side header from the top. Should I try putting the driver side header from underneath the car?

3) If I cannot position the headers in without heads on, how will I be able to do it with the heads on.

This is my first time doing something like this, and I appreciate any help

You need to put the heads on FIRST, then torque them down properly. Then put the headers in.. You may need to lift the engine up a bit to get the driver's side in.. Just loosen the motor mounts and jack it up ..
