help on procharger set-up

Hello,

I知 planning to buy a supercharger set-up for my car.

I have a 1996 Camaro with an LT1 engine. The engine has already a good built but I知 now wanting more.

I plan to use the most possible parts on my actual set-up for the new one.

What I知 looking for = a new set-up to get an engine in the 650 / 700 hp range, but most of it : must be streetable with good daily driver manners. It must run on 91-octane gas.

The parts, I plan to use or re-use are :

* GOLEN short block 383 with -31cc dished pistons,
* Stock heads with Lloyd Elliot LE2 porting
* stock intake manifold
* twin 52 mm Holley throttle body
* Pace Setter long tube headers

I have an LE 1.5 cam but believe not best for what i知 looking for. Any suggestion would be great
I知 also having 31 injectors. What new size for my goals ?
Should i change damper too ?

I hope you will help me figure a complete set-up so i can already know how much money is needed to get a reliable set-up.

I also want the head unit of the blower at the place where the AIR pump was. I prefer this than having it on top of engine. If someone have an installation manual to see how it is , i would love.

Just a few comments to get you started:

GOLEN short block 383 with -31cc dished pistons
Should be a Forged piston in 2618 alloy or 4032. 2618 is preferred over 4032 for high boost levels. You'll probably see a little more blow-by cold with the 2618 - talk to your engine builder.

Try a search within this forum if you haven't yet. There are good off the shelf grinds. You can look at Comps blower grinds.

Another option is to have a custom cam ground for your setup.

What new size for my goals ?
The Siemens/Mototron 60# are a good bet. They are HighZ so they will work with the stock computer without an additional converter box. Take a look at Racetronix.

Should i change damper too ?
A change away from the stock harmonic damper is not required and is up to you IMO. Depends if you want SFI approval.

Every FI setup I've seen puts the supercharger in that location and nobody makes a kit for the top of the engine, except for home built feats of engineering awesomeness. I'd rather spend $300 to have my intake ported than buy a bigger throttle body.

I don't know how much a ported intake helps but larger openings on the tb works like a quick throttle on a motorcycle. Even just a small opening with the increased blade radius allows way more air in allowing for faster acceleration. It's certainly noticeable but probably doesn't add to a real increase in hp/torque.

Your stock TB and Intake will be fine depending what your hp goals are.. The twin coolers are restricted past 700rwhp....They sit under the front corners of the car... I have pics on my website...
