Question having a hard time deciding which blower cam

Ok, I'm shopping around for parts I need to do a cam swap. And I really need any of you profesional peeps help me decide which cam to go with. These are the two cams I'm looking at:
CC 218/230 .495/.502 114 lsa or
CC 224/236 .502/.520 114 lsa
And this is the mods on my '93 z28:
Procharger p600b 8#
full exhaust (headers,no cat.)
full ignition (msd and stuff)
stock top and bottom end (engine)

Now, I am planning on upgrading other stuffs in the proccess of the cam swap like 30# injectors, racetronix fuel pump, and a reprogramed chip for these mods.
My car does not go to the tracks. Car has only 61,000 miles. Been running the blower for 3 1/2 years on full timing. Oops, I did bring it to the tracks a few times.
I just want a lopey type of cam you know what I mean . Just want that rody sound. . But at the same time reliabilty and added power for my application now. Anyway thanks.

I've got a 218/224@0.50" on a 114 and it is a pretty mild cam. It does sound good but, its probably due more to the hooker long tubes and 4" mufflex. If you are wanting more of a thump probably go with the bigger cam. If wanting a little more power they have some lobes with even more lift. The car will still have plenty of power with either cam.

Re: having a hard time deciding which blower cam

I'm running the 224/236 on 114 ... 503/521 ... Comp cams ... extreme, but not too extreme ... if that makes sense. I'm one step down from the real hairy 224/236 on 114.

I am at 3,600 feet here in Calgary, Alberta and I'm only just barely comfortable with it in my 383 with AFR 195 heads.

The main issues are ... brakes ... or lack there of ... I managed to put in a bit of advance in order to get the vacuum up ... now I see around 10" of vacuum at low speeds. Just enough to power up the brakes in normal driving.

Idle quality is also of some concern. The 224/236 does lope, especially in an automatic. I'm running a 2,800 stall with the idle set at 900 rpm in gear ... and it still makes me wonder if it's gonna stall or not.

I mention this because you are still running a stock engine ... I'm thinking that if you're at any altitiude at all, then the 224/236 cam may be a bit too big.

Hope this helps

LWM

Re: having a hard time deciding which blower cam

I would go with the smaller cam...it's more streetable. I've seen that cam on one of the Z's out here, it has a perfect idle, better than my hotcam idle. Having a large cam without the matching heads isn't a great idea either.

And, why go with 30 lb injectors when you could go with 42's and eliminate the fmu?

And what about your bottom end? You may need to address that soon too.

CC lobes #3190/3192 on a 114lsa will work better than what you have selected. Specs out to 214/224 .565/.605" (1.6) or .530/.567" (1.5).

I am using the 224/236 on a 112 LSA in my blown LT4 396 vette. Its very docile, has great street manners and by that I mean not a hint of cam surge during low speed cruising around in the city. Fuel milage is still decent, with a great mid range and top end rush. Its got a good lope to it that you can hear, much meaner than a hot cam but not quite as aggressive as a 306 cam. And it will pass emissions with a bit of creative tunning.

rskrause thanks for the link. One ?. Will this cam work for my app.? I'm just wondering because my heads, intake, and bottom end is all stock. And I'm running a 8# procharger. BTW is that cam you recommended a little more aggressive then the cc 218/230 .495/.502114 lsa? thanks

See, my first choice was the cc 224/236 .502/.510 114 lsa (blower cam). But most people I talk too said It was too much for a stocker lt1 with a blower. Is it to much for my car? And I notice your lt4 is not exactly stock. As far as emmisions, hear in hawaii there's no smog test. My car has no cat. converter. BTW car sounds great without it . Anyway thanks for the reply. Other recommendation is also appreciated.
