Question Fuel pump booster location

Getting ready to do some plumbing underneath the car for the turbo install, and have ordered the MSD 2350 fuel pump booster & Racetronix LT1 fuel pump harness. Is there an ideal location for the booster? Inside or under the car? Where is everyone mounting theirs? The Racetronix harness is listed as being plug & play w/ this unit, so I'm looking for feedback from anyone that has this combo.

Don't put it under where it's exposed to the elements. You want to mount it as close to the pump(s) as possible. I have mine under the driver's side rear seat.

I had my T-rex pump mounted under the car near the fuel filter.

Re: Fuel pump booster location

The MSD 2350 is a voltage control box, not a booster pump- sorry, should have made that clear, was parts shopping all day (found it for $200 shipped BTW , everywhere else was like $235+ and plus shipping) & figured everyone knew about this unit.

The under seat idea sounds good since right in front of there (under the car by the fuel filter) is where I'm installing my oil return pump & there is a protected area where the seat mounts that I can run wires & vacuum hose to under the car.

Mount the BAP as close to the BAP interface connector on the Racetronix harness as possible!

Thanks for the pic, I looked at the wrong vendor for the harness initially & then got it @ Thunder Racing.

From the looks of that pic, it will need to be fairly close to the pump connection.

Correct, behind the back seat is fine. Install the extra connector set supplied with your Racetronix system onto the MSD power in and out wires. The ground(s) are common to the body and can be located in the same spot as the relay + harness ground. Keep the wires reasonably short. Set the MSD unit for max. 17V under WOT.

When you say the msd power in do you mean the yellow wire with the 30 amp fuse? and the power out is the red wire that is marked +pump?

As you probably know on the msd bap there is a black ground wire and a yellow wire on one side and on the opposite side is a red and black wire marked -pump and +pump.

Thanks

Both black wires go to chassis ground. You can ground them to the same spot the Racetronix harness uses with a large ring terminal. Solder all your connections, use heatshrink and lube with the supplied grease to prevent corrosion.

Thanks for the reply.

So solder the supplied connectors on?

I dropped the tank so i could flush it..is there any special way to flush it? Or is it as simple as putting some fresh fuel in it and then "flushing" it back out?

Yes, so the BAP plugs into the Racetronix harness.

Get as much gas out as possible by holding the tank upside down and shaking it around. Fill it with water and shake it out a few times. Get as much of the water out as possible. Once all the fuel vapors are gone and the area is clear of gas you can use a hair dryer on low to speed the tank drying process. Once the tank is dry put it all back together and fill the tank to the top with a high grade gas which contains ethanol if possible.

No, the harness is designed to go underneath the car. The harness components are all weatherproof. E-mail support@racetronix.com if you have a Racetronix harness and require directions.
