Finally made it to the dyno

After a year of fighting ignition issues, I finally got everything working right and made it to the dyno. Thought I would share so that those of you who are planning a build could see my set up and results. Most of my mods are in the signature but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
RWHP 570 at 5900 rpm with 8lbs of boost
RWTQ 547 at 4600 rpm

First pull made 553 but a little tweaking on fuel and ignition got us up to final result. Dyno time is definitely worth investment since you can see what is going on and when. Torque curve was pretty flat--makes good torque down low. I figured it would as it pulls pretty good from 2500 on up.

With the specs on the cam, I thought peak hp would be around 6200 rpm, but I'm happy with the results. It's a lot of fun to drive.

Great results. Sounds like a fun street setup. Glad you finally got it all together.

I'm really surprised with a 385ci and 8lbs you wouldn't see 600rwhp. Glad you got it running though.

Re: Finally made it to the dyno

Probably a little more cam would have put it over the 600 mark--this one is relatively mild by most people's standards. It has to pass emissions though and it has very good driveability on the street. I figure I could always bump the boost up a little if I wanted more.

Cam and engine are plenty big. Add another 5-6lbs of boost and report back.

Re: Finally made it to the dyno

How much timing were you running and what gas, pump gas?

Pump gas--93 octane. Also using 50/50 water/meth injection.

I'll look at my timing tables and get you some numbers.

Is this what is commanded in the tune or what you are seeing on the log?

At 100 KPA isn't that close to 14-15 psi? Where are you getting you reading from, a boost gauge or from the laptop or dyno?

Isn't a “reading”. It's the tabular timing values from the PCM program. It represents a 1 bar MAP sensor, and 100 kPa corresponds to roughly “1 atmosphere”, which is 14.5 PSIabsolute., not a gauge pressure.

Re: Finally made it to the dyno

That's correct. The numbers that I posted represent the values put into my timing table in my program. I did run a data log and I could probably see what the log showed during the run. Generally, it runs pretty close to what is commanded by the pcm. To monitor boost, I have a separate 2 bar sensor connected to my Innovate LM-2 wideband. The LM-2 provides 4 additional channels for data input and logging. I currently have it recording, psi (boost), throttle position, rpm and of course afr.
