engine rebuilt for boost

first off all i want to know is what has to be done to the engine, not the tranny, rear end, frame, etc....

Second, i know that a boost of that nature is illegal in california, and i dont care.

in about 5 months i am going to completly rebuild everything on my car, i want to keep the stock 305 tpi. i have been looking at the ati procharger 20 psi boost and i need to know, when it is time for me to rebuild the engine what special parts need to be used so i wont blow the engine using 20psi boost. a complete list would be great.

some forged pistons for sure....im not sure how strong the bottom ends are on those 305's but make sure it is strong enough hahaha. i dunno, all i can tell you is the forged pistons unless you want your motor playing pool with its own pistons (in case of a detonation)

if your planning on 20psi, built it strong. forged everything(crank, rods, piston) get good bearings and bolts. the quality of the products you use has a lot to do with how long this motor will last under 20psi. if you try to a budget rebuild you may be doing a second one 5-10 thousand miles later. Next, i am not sure you'll be able to hit 20psi. belt slipage is a factor there. I dont want to be a dick or anything but if your are talking about throwning on a blower and run 20psi you should probably know a little more as far as what needs to be done to the motor. Maintaining the setup your talking about alone will be interesting. Good luck

Forged crank, rods, and slugs. 20 psi is a lot and you will have to build it strong, do it right the first time. This probably is not the best site for you, Im sure there is some 3rd gen sites around. Good luck and be prepared to spend lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$.

forget the worrying about belt slippage and just throw a turbo on there . 20 psi would be no problem for a turbo.

I am not usre what you mean by wanting to keep a "stock 305TPI". The kind of $$$ it's gonna take to build a setup for 20psi, you'd be better off with a bigger motor. A short block is gonna be the same cost whether it's a 305, a 350, a 383, or even a 396 (though I prefer the 383) and no matter aht it's gonna be very expensive. Maybe a little more infor about your goals and resources would help people focus their responses. Why "20psi" anyway?

You can also go over to thirdgen.org there is a guy name Willie that is running a 305 tpi with a d1sc procharger. He even came up with a twin flow intercooler for 3rd gen camaros. He had made some impressive numbers from his 305.But I think he has upgraded to an F1.Do a search on him over there you will find some usefull info.
