engine break-in, with or without boost?

As the title says, should I break the engine in with the supercharger, or N/A and put the belt back on after a few hundred miles?

I've heard more and more lately to break it in as you're going to drive it, in which case I'll do it with the blower.

I'm under the impression as well that some cylinder pressure will aid in ring expansion and hence break-in. I would recommend that you hook up your blower as you intend and run the engine through some loading and unloading cycles for ~500 miles. I don't think running into boost would be be bad at all during breakin.

Personally I would not hammer the crap out it at 10lbs+ right away, but you should be able to run the engine in regardless if the blower is installed.

Just watch A/F ratio, and run the motor in with light pulls until you get some cycles on it.

oh yeah, definitely not going to go straight to WOT and full boost. I'd really like to get it up on a chassis dyno and run it up and back in increments but thats unrealistic.

I've got a wideband and datalogger, so I'll just run it in the shop first to check over everything and make sure there aren't any obvious problems before I get it on the road.

I would break in with the blower. I would try to get 500 miles on it as easy as possible, change the oil to get any assembly lube out of the engine, then start driving it like normal, still out of boost for at least another 500 miles. When you finally do start getting into boost, you will want a complete warm up, and the oil around 180F.

sounds good. I was hoping to have it broken in and running good before I head back to Florida for school, but I guess if it comes down to it I'll see if I can talk my dad into trailering it down there
