Eaton RUNS!! LOUD PROBLEMS WITHIN..

I can't believe it !

Thank God!

I cranked it up a few times today.. I suspect the tuning to be way off because it surges at an idle.

There is one big problem

It is increadibly loud! I can barely hear over the thing.. its very painfully loud I'm unsure if its because i don't have a air cleaner on it or what but you can distinctly hear it from inside the house. Its even scareing the crap out of the pets. I"m going to call the people who rebuilt it and see what they have to say about it tomarrow.

AWESOME!

How much to re-create this setup?

Are you just using the stock PCM or do you have an FMU of some kind?

Power aspirations?

Hood?

How much higher is this altered intake in comparison to the stocker?

What did you end up doing for your idler pulley?

How much boost are you showing and how much power can those M-112's support?

Are you running with no air filter?

Is the sound like blower whine or just all the air getting sucked in?

That is really neat, best of luck with that stock bottom end.

Eatons are great chargers. I hope you work out the bugs. Was this the same design used for the LT1 Corvettes?

LOOKS AWESOME
Congrats!!

What are you plans/goals with it?
How much boost and power do you want to make?
And is it a daily driver?

Thanks,
Claude

Awesome job man!
Find me a broken M112 case so I can use it to mock up a setup for the Impala!

Just to let you guys know..

Someone is planing on stealing this idea from me and marketing the kit.

I'm deeply deeply offended by this and have one thing to say...

It sucks that someone wants your idea. But it is one thing to talk and threat, but another to have experience. You've done the work and you've got the experience. Now, if you can get a business plan, you'll be ahead of this clown.

Even if this other person does bring it out before or after you, it boils down to service technical assistance and a complete/reliable package. Again, with good planning, you should get that down too.

I think that I warned you that it would be loud….

You can hear the distinctive whine from my brother’s car over half a mile away, and you really can’t talk inside it when the engine is under load (well you can, but it’s hard). We borrowed a dB meter at one point and found that everyplace inside the cabin pretty much exceeds the level requiring hearing protection by OSHA. Personally, I think that the amazing feat of engineering with the OEM applications is how they manage to quiet them down enough to put them in street and even luxury cars.

WRT to the patent… good luck, but I doubt that you’ll be successful. It’s an idea that’s already been produced by a handful of OEM’s, and magnacharger has a whole line of them (their SBC versions are out, and they’re considering carbed setups and other engines).

I was unaware that Magnachargers were so loud. Or is it the roots/whipple style that is so loud. Lingenfelter makes a Magnacharger kit for the Corvettes... I wouldn't think he would put out something that would be "distasteful" to the discriminitate Corvette populus.

What does Lingenfelter do to make his set up quiet?

Why would this set up be louder?

Just some honest questions from an uninformed guy.

The lingenfelter setup spins the whole thing around (the drive is acutally on the back, the inlet on the front) and has a completely different inlet/external casting. It was developed by magnussen.

Most OEM's using the M series eatons (GM on the 3.8, Ford 3.8, 4.6, 5.4, Jag, Austin Martin...) Spend a lot of time and $$$ designing intakes that quiet the noise. from what I've heard of tests with them removed, they're every bit as loud with them removed.

In my brother's car it's worse since his intake goes through the firewall and uses the heater box as a cold air box sucking air in from the cowel...

Thanks! So it is the design of the airbox being so close to the bulkhead. That's probably why centrifugal chargers are "quieter" because they are further out front.
