difference between p-1sc/d-1sc

Say guys whats the difference between the 2 of these. My car has the p-1sc, is that not as good of charger as the d-1sc or d-1. I hear people say they wish they had a d-1. Also how much boost is mine good for. Thanks!

A P1SC has a straight cut blade impeller, whereas a D1SC has a more aggressive curved blade impeller.

Are you running on the stock block and heads still with the P1SC?

Yes I am, but I have a 388 with lt4 afr heads and intake waiting to be put in but I was going to wait untill this one dies. Im still working on making the supercharger work right so I figure I would get real familiar with how everything works before I throw my big gun under the hood!

Re: difference between p-1sc/d-1sc

The 2 biggest differences between the P-1, and the D-1, is the performance, and as a consequence, the price. The P-1SC is a great baseline unit that in most cases can be put on with very little to no need to change any of your fuel setup (ex. injectors, fuel pump, ect.), and you can still expect substancial gains in power. However the D-1SC is going to require motor work(pistons, ect), and a changed up fuel system with a good tune in order for your motor to last and perform properly. A friend of mine put his theory to the test when he put a D-1SC(twin intercooled), on his stock LS1, and even with small boost for the D-1, along with the larger injectors, and fuel pump, his motor lasted about 5,000 miles before his motor was toast. I have seen the P-1 put out more than 475 at the wheels on good applications on F-body's before, I have also seen the D-1 put down well over 850 at the wheels. The D-1SC kit will run around $4500 depending on who you talk to. The P-1SC costs quite a bit less (maybe $3000 or so, not sure since I didn't directly price one out).

I just bought a D-1SC a week ago, and I am looking to only use a mild amount of boost in it (12#) and I should have somewhere around 650 at the wheels with my set up. The D-1SC is capable of more than 18#'s, where the P-1SC I believe does under 10#'s. (mostly I have seen 6-8#'s used).

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the input CALL911, Say I see that there are 2 options for the p-1sc, theres a 8psi version and a 10-14 psi version. Are they the same charger just have different pulley sets. One more thing, can a guy send in the p-1sc to ATI and have it upgraded at all. Thanks again for all your input guys!

Don't quote me on it, but I believe you will have to buy the D-1SC, you can't "upgrade" from the P-1SC. Also, the only difference between the #'s of boost for the P-1 should just be the pully size. Again, I am more familiar with the D-1, than the P-1, so I could easily be mistaken here.

The P-1SC can be upgraded to a D-1SC

Re: difference between p-1sc/d-1sc

Upgrading to a D1SC from a P1SC at the time of a new system purchase: $415

Upgrading the P1SC to a D1SC at a later date: about $1280

The D1SC can usually, not always, be pullied down to match the airflow of the P1SC for a particular system.

After doing some research, and then coming back to the thread, yes, the P-1 is definatly upgradable to the D-1. Again, I didn't know a ton on the P-1 system.

On a close-to-stock LT1, a P1SC should be good for about 12 psi.
