D1SC and Pulley Ribs

Motor is being built, getting close to sending bracket/tensioner out to SCDE. Trying to decide whether or not to go 8 or 12 rib. I've been hearing that there are less belt options for the 12 rib and that the 8 rib are also available at local parts stores as opposed to having to order the 12 from ATI and paying a gargantuan amount of cash.

Will the SCDE 8 Rib setup hold up to pretty much maxing a D1SC out??

Re: D1SC and Pulley Ribs

just so you know you can get the 12rib belts from napa for about half of what ATI charges for them

I got the ATI 12 rib belt for my car for 26.86 before taxes : )

Re: D1SC and Pulley Ribs

Thanks for the info. What I was mainly getting at was the availability of sizes for the 12 vs. the 8 rib. Supposedly there's more sizes for the 8 rib allowing a wider variety of pulley combo's to be run.

Re: D1SC and Pulley Ribs

I have a SDCE tensioner setup (just came in) Wendy and Scott both told me that a 8Rib with there Tensioner setup would be fine, also you can get 8 rib gator back Belts anywhere for around $25.00
My SDCE setup is 8rib and I have a VRE 383, LE AFR heads and I will be spinning the D1SC with a 3.2 Blower pulley to 60500 RPM out of the 62000 max impellar speed, should make 650-700RWHP

You're hitting it with what I'm planning on (maxing out impeller). I still need to decide but I'm starting to really lean towards the 8 Rib now.

Re: D1SC and Pulley Ribs

Fastbird what size crank pulley are you going to run, Scott is going to setup my crank pulley and ATI harmonic balancer together (somthing about matching them) and I am going to run a 7.625 Crank pulley. I have already ordered the Custom 3.2 Blower pulley from ASP, its and aluminum design and will be andiniozed red not bad for $95. Anyways I plan on spinning my motor to 6200 ( I will be using some AGGRESIVE 3100 XE lobes) and using the calculator I get 60571 Blower RPM. Maxing a D1SC on any car can achieve 800-825 Flywheel stated from Procharger. I figure we will see around 14-15lbs b/c our motors will be pretty effecient

Our cars are very similiar we both have Aftermarket castings done by LE, both 383's with D1SC and auto's nearly maxing out the procharger.
Man I have a tone of parts in my shop, SDCE kit, Mondo bypass valve, completed shortblock on the engine stand, AFR heads, D1SC, Canton Valve covers (VERY NICE) 4inch FMIC, Ported LT4 intake and Monoblade (Sold converted Single plain ) and maybe a few other little things, lol
Keep me updated on your setup

Wow, our setups are VERY similar!!! I'm not going to be running the FMIC, only the twin high flows. but if those aren't enough then I'm planning on piggybacking them with a 50/50 water/meth injection. My BRE cam for the LE TFS heads is pretty stout, so honestly I'm expecting the motor to want to spin upwards of 6400 N/A. Having talked to my engine builder who's an ATI dealer and builds blower motors all the time, he's VERY optimistic that we're going to see over 900 at the crank on the engine dyno. Which would make me more than happy. I have a feeling we're going to be doing a lot of tweaking while it's on the stand though. We'll be playing around with different pulley combinations until we find the right combo, and then get it fully tuned with the FAST. Then comes getting it to run the same in the car, and though I'm installing a dual in-tank setup, if we hit the power mark I'm going to be skeptical as to it's ability to feed the beast.

*Edit* Just realized I didn't answer your question. Right now we're starting with the one that came in the D-1SC kit. We'll move from there though. He's got pulleys in house to swap around.

Re: D1SC and Pulley Ribs

You can always wait to see how my 12 rib set up looks/works, and make your call from there. I know am not going to be running the same power/boost level you are, but it should give you an idea.
