D1sc or F1 ?

Gonna uppgrade the engine (383LT1) this winter, ported TFS heads, custom camshaft from Bret and a FMIC.
Have had a P1SC that was max reved last season, stock ported heads and a CC305. twin IC (made 600rwhp)
A friend wants to buy my P1SC whitout brakets and pluming so its a good opertunerty get a bigger blower
It looks like a F1 or a D1SC is the easyest way to go so...

1. Is it any big difference in sound between them?
2. What about boost in lower RPM? any difference between them?

The plan is not to rev a F1 to the limit, im aming for 800-850 Fwhp so i Guess both the blowers will support that?

Is it something more i should think off when i choose headunit?

Well, it depends how much hp you plan to make. In either case, the A4 is likely to become a memory, so you need to keep that in mind when budgeting the project out. I'd say the F1 to give you room to grow though.

Re: D1sc or F1 ?

As i wrote, Im aming for 800-850 fwhp, (dont have fuel for more now)
Rebuilt/reinforced the 4l60e 3 times this season and i havent got a perfect 2->3 shift yet So its gona be replaced by a 4L80E this winter ( its at the trans rebuilder now)
any ideas about the 2 questions? Tried to search but it want take ( F1 )
What about the F1 sound level? Have heard bigger F-series and i dont like the sound, are the SC F1 quiter?

Any car making 800+hp you aren't going to hear the blower much. But I wouldn't call the F1 quiet by any means.

Re: D1sc or F1 ?

If you are going for max power, try the F-1. The D-1SC has less internal step up ratio & will have more belt slip issues than the F-1.

For this reason I prefer the D-1 (4.44:1) over the D-1SC (4.1:1) on a max effort street car. If running cogs (not my idea of streetability), this is not an issue.

The F-1 flows 125cfm more CFM for about 2# more boost, if 18# or so (w/ D-1 & streetable cam) isn't enough w/ the D-series.

The F-1R may be a little extreme unless you want boost in the mid 20's & a peaky boost curve. I'll let you know if parts fly out of the block in the spring.

Im been thinkin about the diffrent set up ratios, and i cant get a hold on whats the best to avoid belt slip
If i want the same CFM flow and have a F1 whidh 5:1 i would need a bigger S/C pulley wich mean lower speed on the pulley=more torque would have to be transfered from the belt to the S/C On the other hand if i have a D1SC widh 4.1:1 i would need a smaller pulley on the S/C and thats=higher speed and less torque, so it looks like it should be more slip widh the F1 but then the F1s bigger pulley would have more contact area against the belt and that should also be a factor to consern

Re: D1sc or F1 ?

The belt to surface area is the limiting factor to belt traction. Use the biggest pulleys (most surface area) possible to prevent slip.

Cog belts aren't very street friendly.

f1c and a cog. I know plenty of people areound here that run cogs on the street with no problems. Rumor has it that procharger is redoing the kit this winter to fit and f1r on the car, and an f1c is the same housing. The rumor comes from a pretty good source, a friend that works at ATI with an lt1 car. Well see though.

Re: D1sc or F1 ?

I'm not blower savvy so can someone explain why cogs are not ideal for use on the street?

Yeah, it would be cool if they did that-so you can fit a bigger blower on there! But I'm not going to hold my breath!! We'll see if it happens!
