Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
I would like to say INTMD8's car is the epitomy of an awesome FI LT1 car.
I feel honored my car was parked next to it in SpeedInc's shop while they did some suspension work for my car a few years back. It is absolutly an amazing machine!

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
Well here is what I did since I couldn't make out ATI's instructions. I took the u-shaped hose off and capped the port fitting w/ a vac cap. The other port w/ the metal pcv I ran a hose to it and the other end goes to the inlet side of the blower. I'll still run 2 breathers on the passenger side but none on the driver side, will that be ok or do I need to run a breather on the driver side as well?
Don't laugh at my vac lines either I'm not done I was just plumbing it at the time. LOL!

Custom inlet hat.

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
I would think you should be fine. At first I only had breathers on one side, and it was doing just fine. The only reason I now have them on both sides is because of an incident leading to me getting another valve cover for the non breather side. At that point I just ordered another passenger side for the drivers side so I could run breathers on both sides.
The more ventalation you can get to your crankcase the better. However, I do believe you should be fine with the setup you currently have.

John,
Do you happen to have more pics of the custom inlet and how the filter is routed? Also on the way the PVC is routed in those pics... aren't you going to be coating the intercooler and all of your pipes with oil that way?
Good job on progress you made so far! I'm still preping my engine bay for repaint so I haven't even had a chance mess with the fuel system.

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
Yeah I can get another pic for you B. I guess I see your point w/ the PCV line. WHAT IS EVERYONE DOING W/ THE U-SHAPED PCV LINE?! Are you keeping it in place? Man I'm so confused about that hose I'm going to pop!
Can somebody please tell me what to do w/ that pcv hose please?! Is it supposed to go to a catch can and if you don't have one what's the other alternative? So I drilled a hole in that hat for nothing?
Time to go weld that up.
ATI's instructions: removed u-shaped line off driver side manifold, plug barb fitting w/ supplied vac port cap. Run 1/2 supplied hose off pcv to inlet hat using supplied fittings. That's the jist of it as I don't have the instructions in front of me. So if it's true what you say B why would they suggest that in the 1st place? Like I said I don't understand the the whole pcv thing but I will not start this car under no circumstance until I have this right even if it takes me 3 yrs.

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
Yep sure did.
Got another one coming from Schurter's LT1 as well. I'm going to hard pipe it straight to the filter instead of dryer hose. Pics of it installed? Sheesh it's hard to get a good angle. I'll see what I can find.

My TB is capped off and I have 2 breathers on the p/s VC, PCV on the driver side and no AIR pump. I'm thinking of a 3rd breather on the driver side next. Would that be enough and not cause damage? Haven't cranked the new engine yet as I'm still ironing out some things as what to do and this being one of them. I had a AMW catch can but sold it as it killed my NA engine so I'm a little skeptical on that. My only other option would be this but I've heard mixed results w/ this setup as well. 383 F1 w/ 22+psi

John, if you are still confused if you did the right thing here with the PCV, don't be. I think I have the exact same setup on my car, and it has proven to work well.
Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?
I would say if anything (besides my breathers on both valve covers), you have the better setup. Let me know how the inlet tube works for you once you get it running. I may end up getting one for my car as well.
