Here's the pics I had posted on that thread showing my Crankcase Evac install:

Have fun trying to drop that exhaust with the headers welded to the y-pipe. I'll never understand why people do that. A v-clamp set up, 3 bolt flange, or a band clamp would be the right way to attach the headers to the y-pipe.

We decided to use a vacuum pump set up.

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?

I am still learning about PCV setups, catchcans, and Vacum pumps.

I was planning on running a setup like this
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...&highlight=PCV

I have Canton Valve covers and I was going to run a -10 weld in Bung and a 90 degree -10 fitting From EACH valve cover using Braided lines into the Catchcan. The catchcan uses 3/8 Npt fittings so a -10 to 3/8 would be used. The Allstar Performance catchcan uses a Filter on the top so It vents the air to the atmosphere instead of back into the intake tract (Less to mess with and cleaner looking in my opinion). Also you can drain the oil that builds into the catchcan from the bottom.

About the FI cars not needing a Vacum Pump, that is just what I have heard. I suppose I don't need to say a Vacum pump is not needed on a FI car but it is on a N/A car.

Eric you guys built the motor what do you think I should do with it, An fittings ,Braided lines, and catchcan is going to cost about $220.

Here is some more pics of what guys are doing over on LS1tech.
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...ighlight=catch

A vacuum pump relieves the crankcase pressure and would be needed on a high horsepower forced induction car.
Not trying to start anything but some of the above cars run mid to low 9's making over 850RWHP and they run the setup I am referring too. I have heard alot about the Caddy pump, and I looked into that, maybe I should look into more. But many have had succes with the PCV with running fittings into the valve covers to a Catchcan.

I had a 3 bolt flange....I opted for this....never leaks...

I can cut it off, and weld it back on faster than I could ever undo/re-torque the old flange bolts. I wasn't aware you goverend what the "right way" is to attach headers to the y-pipe.

AmericanMuscle33 I had the same setup as well, i cut mine off too. I have a lift at the shop I can just lift the car and weld it back no problem.

Oh yeah... cutting an re-welding it is much easier. Sorry... my methods are the "right way". Gee... I never have seen GM have the manifolds welded right to the y-pipe. You say that you can cut and re-weld faster than removing and re-installing the bolts... wow... you must drink a lot off coffee that you can work so quickly. Yeah... it's always safe to be welding next to the fuel lines too.

People will be able to make their own choice of what is the right way.

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?

im running the check valves on my setup and it works fine. the only problem would be if you have a loose engine you would tend to smell oil burning in the exhaust when you really lay into it. i drive the car about 100 miles a week with no problems. i have a 3'' mufflex y pipe into 4'' spintech cat back...

I just hate the fumes I get from that setup

I ain't worried about the fumes can barely smell anything as it is. That's what makes the car what it is. I drive the truck when I want to be civilized.

Re: Crankcase evac. What did you guys do?

Like ZBLKHELLRZR I never noticed any fumes. With no cats, and long tubes I I smell the exhaust more than anything anyway. The only thing I have noticed is that after railing on it a ton, the breathers will mist a fine layer of oil on the underside of the hood. But I figure if it is enough to spray on the underneath side of my hood, then it's doing its much needed job of ventalating the pressure anyway, and I have no problem with wiping the oil off every once in a while as a consequence.

This thing sucks pretty hard. I am also using a vented catch can to pick up any oil so that it doesn't get into the pump (even though this pump is built to handle the oil).

You have a pic of your set-up?
