Question Can i take blower belt off and floor the car?

Never really heard of anyone doing this. Will there be enouf air flow with the blower still there and the maf on the bottom? Im trying to find out if my problems are boost related and this would be a nice way to check. I think my scanmaster went crazy, and i just dont trust the readings. My idea is to punch the car with blower belt off and see if i still have same problem(im thinking maf max). If i do im sure its somthing ignition related. I know its not fuel and thats abou it.

Has anyone ever run at WOT with blower belt off.

Sure you can.. I have.. I tossed my belt one time racing, and went back and raced w/o it. Of course, with the timing pulled out and fuel so high, it ran horribly.. But, it does work..

You will have no problem running with the belt off. :-)

K thanks guys i was just worried about the engine breathing. I wanna see what a slug it is with 8.5 to 1 compression anyway .

When I had the belt off mines, the car felt real sluggish. I guess its because I was going through all that tubing between he s/c and the intercooler plumbing.

Someone else noted this earlier, but I'd like to enforce that max'ing out the MAF will only cause a lean condition.

I've run 14 psi boost while max'ing out the MAF with no problems other than it running lean.

Yes i know it will take fuel out when the MAF maxes, but thats worst thing you can do to a engine is run it lean. Boosted engines need lots of fuel and im not risking blowing head gaskets and pistons just so i can punch the car. I will not fully hit it till its runing right, i have spent way to much time and money to make some careless dumb mistake. Im just pulling my hair out trying to find what the heck is going on with this break up/power loss from 5k up.

Max'ing out the MAF will not cause break-up / power loss over 5k rpm. The leaning out will be gradual from max-out and up. It does not "cut out" fuel, it just fails to add fuel for the additional air after max-out.

I had the exact same problem with mine and it turned out to be a weak ignition.

What did you do to the ignition to solv the problem, i really am leaning towards the ignition myself. Was it just that the stock ignition was not good enough or was somthing just not working right. I was thinking about trying BTM/6dal to see if problem still occurs.

I had a Hypertech coil, Magnacore wires, and a narrow spark plug gap (no ignition amplifier box) and it would pop and lose power over 4000 rpm. I added an MSD 6A and the problem completely went away.

INTMD8 has made 634 rwhp without an ignition box, but I suspect he had a fresh optispark, wires and plugs.

Several months later, I removed and dis-assembled my opti to find a build-up of crud on the internal contacts. Maybe that was the problem to begin with. The opti only had about 15k miles on it.
