Callies 383 or Lunati 383
Callies 383 or Lunati 383
I was looking at some stroker kits and came across two of them and was wondering which would be a better option.
1. Lunati
4340 Crank one piece rear main seal
Promod connecting rods
4032 Forged pistons (-20cc dished)
Racer plasama rings
Alecular main and rod bearings
It's Internally Balanced!!!!!!
2. Callies Dragonslayer (Low compression)
3.75" Calies forged crank
5.70" Calies Pro I- Beam Rods
SRP -31cc dished
Federal Mogul Main Bearings
Does not metion about being balanced?????
Which setup will be better for a 15psi dsc and need a head for about 9to1 compression?

Re: Callies 383 or Lunati 383
Both would work fine. I really like Callies cranks, but OTOH the Pro-Mod is a really nice mid priced rod. If the price is the same and #2 is not balanced, I'd vote for #1 since balancing is expensive. Though the -20cc pistons may not give you low enough compression to run 15psi on pump gas. That will also depend on the cam.

Will 12psi be better for pump gas with this combo? And what chamber heads will get me down to 9to1 compression ratio. I will be using a 224/236 comp high lift version cam.

The largest chambers for an LT1 heads are the AFR's, which are 74cc (or maybe it's 76cc, I forget) unmilled. With a ~0.040" quench height this wiull give ~8:1 static CR using the -31cc piston. This is a good combo for pump gas.
