Called STS today

Decided to call STS today about their financing. About died when he told me its 18%! I was suprised after that also because he told me we could start the application over the phone or he could e-mail it to me and I said he could e-mail it and he said ok and never mention it again so I was not asked if I wanted to buy or do the application every five seconds like some companies. Talked to him for about fifteen minutes about questions and concerns. If I go nitrous I fear for the tranny and asked him if I would need a rebuild and he said with methonal I could run 7psi safe all day long on the stock parts. Since the turbo builds power its is not as hard on the tranny as instant full power with N20 on the trans. Have yet to pull the cats or exhaust manifolds and he said do to the size turbo I would be starting with I would see very minimal gains with headers right now and so fars tests have shown that. He said if I wanted to do anything he would recomend new valve springs and engine work first like a stronger bottom end. Told him what I was thinking about doing with it in the future and might keep the N20 to go with it and he just said..... thats going to be SICK....

Did tell me I might want to stay away from the N20 to be on the safe side till I get at least some forged pistons but I should call Nelson performance and ask them what they thought. Also told me that traction will be an issue but I should run a solid 12's, told him I have pro stars with new M/T E.T's going on so we will see what it does.

From what I can tell you can only finance threw STS, not a STS dealer right? (yeah forgot to ask). I have seen some of the dealers offer things like 10% off and if you had to go threw STS I wonder if they would give you the same deal.

The guy I am buying the pro stars off of is a friend and would loan me the money and only charge like 8% and I could take advantage of better offers threw dealers hmmmm.

Methanol, eh?

I was also thinking of doing a n2o setup to cool down the air carge a bit more.

Kewl **** about the financing! Do you think I could finance me an ATI kit through a dealer??!?!

Re: Called STS today

you can finance anything at 18%... Just get a credit card. The application is probably through a credit card company like Citi anyway.

In my own opinion, if you can't afford to rebuild the bottom end NOW, don't do anything stupid to blow it up. Forced induction with stock internals and no budget is not a good idea. A seemingly simple problem like a methanol pump failure, or the methanol tank running dry will render your car on jackstands while you try and pay off all the stuff you financed and while you come up with the funds to rebuild it.

You can say the same thing about 7 psi

Re: Called STS today

They told me that if I get the electronic boost controler that when the methonal goes out it pulls the boost back, even if I am halfway down the track.
I might stick with just 5psi, I don't know. They told me I should have no problems with 7psi in a LT1 on a stock motor with meth or race gas.

Trust me I am not going with the 18% lol, it was with some bank.

Hmm. . .

Methanol to cool the air charge = More safe for the engine.

Nitrous to cool the air charger = Less safe for the engine.

^... Sorry, I just figured that N2O has the super cooling effect. I'm unfamiliar w/ methanol.

And cometo think of it... 18% is a bit high for financing. My Car financing was less than that.

Re: Called STS today

i made the mistake of financing my h/c setup and labor. `$3000. it will have cost me about $4700 if i pay minimum on time. be patient and save the money or save enough to borrow less. paying my bill off this month with tax return, save some $ on the interest that way. speaking of, if you have the extra cash each month, put it towards whatever loan you go with to cut the interest down.

Re: Called STS today

Looks like I am going to stick with the bottle for now. Right now I would rather put more work into the motor and enjoy it and not have a killer bill hanging over me.
