building only 4psi of 18... f1a... just rebuilt.

After my rebuild on the f1a I'm only making 4 psi. Took the air filter off same result. No belt slip and I did a boost leak check and there is 0 leaks. I checked over the bypass ( big red open race) and everything looks good. I called procharger and they don't have a clue, and bob from brute speed I've exhausted everything he suggested.. I'm at a total loss...what else is there to check? Id rely like to get it 100% so I can put some numbers down with this 383!!

Are the impeller blades angled the correct direction? Post a picture of the inlet of the blower.

Make sure you didn't have a rag stuffed into the inlet when you put your blower tubing back together I did this once with a giant wad of paper towels and by the time I figured it out, half of it was all shredded and went through the engine On my car though, I didn't so much lose boost, but it was making my throttle body act funny since it wouldn't close all the way... Not the smartest thing I ever did, but I blame it on the beers I drank while polishing up the parts one boring afternoon.

We thought we missed some paper In the intercooler but there's a ton of air passing through it still... my impelled looks different after the rebuild. I sent the pics to procharger and hopefully I can get it figured out!!

What have you done to test the charge pipe/intercooler and bypass?

i built a boost leak tester (ive built a few for DSMs) and did find a couple small leaks which i fixed. the bypass valve i inspected the diaphragm and it has no cracks holes or tares. only thing i could do is try another bypass...

what intercooler do you have on there (or do you have one)? I had a problem similar to this, and I made installed vacuum port into my silicon coupler before the IC and hooked the boost gauge to that and I had a 8psi going in, and 1 psi coming out... was just a bad IC i guess, switched to the 4" core and no problems since.

its an ebay CX racing 24x12x4 core... everything worked fine before the blower went kaput... is there a easy way to check the intercooler? maybe a chunk of the old impeller is crammed in there?
