I am looking to build a 12 second driver camro for the summer. right now I have a healthy 350 ci with, 3.08 gears posi ,and a borg worn 4spd, with a hurst comp plus shifter, and a k$n filter 2 1/4 dia exhaust and headers.
I was just wondering wether I could cam it ,sroke IT<400 chev crank> put in pistons ,intake and carb then a supercharger or turbo and would that get me into the 12's with a daily driver potential.I am also looking for a set of 4.10's
if there is a hole in my thinking point it out i am fairly fresh in this game.

Give us some kind of a budget to work with and an idea of what you can do yourself vs. hiring out. What year and model car are you going to be building?

My LT1 w/ just the 8# Procharger went bottom 12s on an ET Street and modest suspension mods. Not too hard really.
12's is a pretty modest goal.
Hell, with my last car, I ran 11.96 with an 8.4/1 compression 350, hydraulic cam, full exhaust, full weight, A/C, cruise, tilt, etc. . . without a supercharger.
If all you want is 12's, then I'd do a 10/1 compression 350 with Vortec heads and a XE274 cam (230/238). Make sure to machine the heads for the extra lift and install valve springs with at least 120# seat pressure. Set the timing at 30 degrees as these heads make less power with alot of timing. Use a Performer RPM Air Gap intake and a 750 double pumper carb. For exhaust, use Hooker Super Competition headers, dual 2 1/2" pipes with Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers.
This would make a very low-maintenance, pump gas, low cost motor that would make about 420 - 450 hp at the crank.
In a 3500 lb car, you could expect 112 - 114 mph in the quarter, which equates to 11.90 - 12.70, depending on 60' time.
If your goals don't require it, there is no reason to add the cost, complication, and decrease in reliability caused by a supercharger.

I will be putting in at most 10 thousand a year.
My car is a 81 z28, and if i can go faster for around the same price plz tell me.
Why is forced induction unreliable I was under the illusion it was a sound upgrade.
I also get 50 % off at lordco if that helps any as far as prices go.

The supercharger adds a couple more sets of bearings, gears, and another belt, all of which can fail.
Also, detonation is more likely with boost. Detonation will kill a set of pistons quickly.
High cylinder pressure causes the rings to wear out quicker.

hell, we're looking right now at running low, and i mean low elevens and possibly even high 10s with our turbo kit and exhaust. we should be right at about 500 rwhp, and that should net you a low eleven with some sticky tires. if you want to go faster than that you start getting into the exponential curve of power/traction. shoot me an e-mail if you want to discuss anything further.

my car has not seen the 1/4 mile, but I am guessing with me driving it high 14's low 15's <I have only be driving 2 years>.
Would I be able to get prices off you guy's plz .
BTW It HAS to be reliable for at least a 2 yrs when I rebuild next.
