Bosch BPV question after MAF relocation.

Just got the car fired after putting the MAF on the pressure side of a Vortech A-trim. So now I'm venting the stock bypass to the atmosphere.

Should hot air be purging at idle? Because it isn't. I removed the valve to be sure it was on the right way and the vacuum line was on. I can push the valve open with my finger and it's not very hard to do. I figured that with the kind of air coming out the piping it would be pushed open. I reinstalled it and reved the car fairly high...still no purged air. I drove the car...no sound during shifts.

It's a small blower at only 5psi.

Maybe the vacuum signal is not strong enough.

Thanks

-Scott.

you will never hear anything from the stock BPV. i'm not sure bout the air deal, but i;m using a BOV from a 1G eclipse and its loud as crap... and at idle air is still coming out of it alittle.

Check the vacuum on that like you said. I think I was able to actually suck the bypass valve open with lung power. That was on my stock p600b bpv.

Have you considered upgrading to the Bosch 114? It's a much stronger bypass valve that you can purchase right at your local SAAB dealer. Like you, I am venting to the atmosphere but I'm using two Bosch 114's (one before and one after I/C.)

Just a thought.......

Tim

Re: Bosch BPV question after MAF relocation.

Hey thanks for help.

slimdawson:
Lung power wont open this one.. However..with vacuum on there, there is suction on the (now) discharge end.

I wish I could say it better.. In other words.

With the the vacuum line attached, there is a suction on the end of the BPV that should be venting/re-routing. A vacuum leak...if you will.

So I'm seeing no function of this BPV at all. ...Just some suction on the end that I thought would be discharged off.

1BadAzzGT :

If I may ask...can you tell me how your setup behaves and why you need two?

......Late night and some wine...

Setup behaves like stock believe it or not. The giveaway is the loud blower and the sumped tank. Anyway, I have to run two bypass valves because I was getting a lot of surging/bucking @ idle and lower rpm with one bypass valve. With two of them, that went away.

I'm not by any means saying that you specifically need two.... I'm explaining what worked for my combination because driveability is a must for me and I don't want my car stalling at every redlight.

Tim

Damn I have a surge between 1000-1500 and I think I just figured it out. thanks guys!

Is there a bypass valve that flows more than more stock vortech and that still can month to that stock location on my aftercooler pipe.

Re: Bosch BPV question after MAF relocation.

Another thing.. I thought engine vacuum was used to hold the valve open at idle. It seems there isnt enough vacuum to do this as the valve is closed ALL OF THE TIME, even when revving it under the hood. I'm going to have to give Vortech a call.

Thanks to everyone.

Yep like I said the stocker that ships with vortech I believe is a model 110. Just upgrade to the 114. It looks the same and mounts the same but is much stronger (the valve).

Cheers,
Tim
