Boost/vacuum readings?

OK, so I have a digital boost gauge that also gives vacuum numbers (at least it showed something with the n/a motor)

I had it in the intake, but I moved it to the inlet tube, just in front of the TB. I haven't had a chance to get on it (wet roads, not cool! ), but at idle it is reading around 9.. I don't think the turbos are spooling at that rpm..

I was just wondering if anyone else had any vacuum numbers, and if they dropped then went to the boost side? I don't remember how it read when I had the 671 on it, but I do know it displayed boost numbers...

So what do other turbo owners see for vacuum? And where is the gauge ported to?

thanks!

I believe the sensor tube placement you have now will show boost when the tb blades are closed or close to it. Only pressure taken from the intake manifold will be correct.

Well, with it in the inlet pipe, just in front of the TB, it idles around 9, then drops to 7-8 when I am driving, and when I am on it, the number is going to 10-11.. so I guess I am finally getting some boost!!

yee haaaaa!!!!!

Now to rebuild the turbos.. they seem to have some impeller drag, so I think the bearings are going bad..

I don't understand why you want to put the sensor pickup in the wrong place? A stock engine probably shows 9# at idle when placed there.

Well, I had it in the intake, and it was idling around 6-7, and would never drop.. as you are driving, and drop the hammer, it would bounce around and then go up to 10 or so; I was just wondering since I was under the impression from my carb days that at WOT you should see near zero on a vacuum gauge...

Just thought I would try it in a different spot, to see if I could get a different number... I plan on putting it back in the manifold.
