I have heard of people using the EGR block off plates on the back of the intake for the hobbs switch. For my boost/vaccuum source, I spliced a vaccuum line into one of the ports (nipples) on the side of the intake.

Vaccuum and boost are the same. Only boost psi on throttle as soon as you let off it will be vac.

Vacuum and boost are both a measure of the pressure in the intake manifold. Most of the time the intake is under vacuum as the pistons are sucking the air out of the intake manifold faster than the throttle body is supplying air. With a blown car, when you accelerate under load, the blower will provide more air than what the pistons can handle and you start to build pressure in the intake.
