beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
mine came off after less than 100 miles and sucked into the blower and destroyed my impeller... procharger WILL NOT warranty it... they are "working with me" but we will see how bad im gonna get butt raped on this one...
Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
Wow! Never heard of this but I'll be sure to keep an eye out for this. Over 1K on mine but since it's off the car right now, I'll definitely take a look at it. Sucks that Pro won't work w/ ya better esp after only having a 100 miles on the dang thing.
Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
I bought it new august of 2009 so its out of warranty. The car has been a headache since day 1 and I've replaced everything on the car since I bought it. The charger still looks Damn near new minus the impeller being busted and some scratches from installing it... it just shows me that procharger doesn't stand behind their product
something like this should never happen... this is a part they installed...

Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
If it's out of warranty, it has nothing to do with ProCharger standing behind their product. Have you gone to your local Chevy dealer trying to get them to warranty any of the other problems you've been having with your car even though it's out of warranty? Do you think GM would "stand behind their product" with your car being out of warranty?
Most likely, with the blower being moved around your garage over the last 2-3 years, you might have bumped the nose cone against something and knocked it loose. Since the nose cone sticks out past the inlet of the blower, this is a very likely scenario. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
hitting the cone on something is impossible for 2 reasons.... the mounting location of the blower on a LT1 its tucked up next to the block, and 2 it has a filter on it. i had actualy just checked the impeller the night before for shaft play as i was changing my plug wires. procharger already said this sort of thing has happened before... they are admitting fault but i still have to pay for part of the repairs... and your right it sucks, and im doing what i can
Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
not that this helps you but before i got my car this happened to the previous owner, a friend of mine. this was a vortech blower though he sent it to 928 motorsports they had a better option for upgrading the blower. it soposivly took it from an s-trim to more likras t-trim so im told. his misforune was my gain. i thought it was odd that it sucked the filter in like that though. good luck
Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
That sucks that they aren't warrantying it. I had an F1A on my car for 30,000 miles and 3 years and never had any problems with it. Guess you just got a bad apple. How is the cone attached? glue or bolts?
Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
That is great news. I was disappointed when I heard they weren't going to do much for you which is crap IMO. They should be able to look at it and see that it wasn't abuse that broke it.
For the amount of coin the F1 costs- the warranty should come engraved on gold leaf...along with a warranty thats longer than one year!

Re: beware of the cone on F1 prochargers!!
This doesn't come to any surprize to me. It seems all of ATI's factory filter sizes (along with some of their poor inlet designs) are not what they should be for their blowers.
By changing the filter that came with my D1SC and changing the small plastic inlet to a larger metal one I gained 5 pounds of boost and over 100 RWHP.
It would be in your best interest to upgrade to the largest filter you can fit under there and try and get the largest most solid (metal) air inlet (that is the piece in between the blower and the air filter).
