best baby cam for boost?

im looking for a cam for a 355 lt1 which will have tame idle but still make good power. ive even considered using a stock lt4 cam with 1.6 roller rockers for a sleeper effect. im dynomating the whole interior and want to be able to cruise like its stock.

whats my best bet? custom cam? im on a budget but dont wanna leave a significant amount of power on the table. this motor will probably also have a small shot of nitrous along with the supercharger. im hoping to push between 9-12lbs of boost.

can someone suggest me a suitable cam? id like it to be new, its going in a new motor

Stock might be a good option for you.

Turbo? Blower? Gears? Power goals?

A lot of the small cams - I had a 502 - Tend to have mild specs but be on a 112 lsa. Mine still had quite a bit of chop at idle.

In order to get an appropriate response I think you need to specify power range, not just tame idle and "good power". To some good power might be 400 at the wheels, which with 10-12 psi boost is probably attainable with a stock cam. While on the other hand good power to someone else could mean 600 rwhp. So I wouldnt venture to give you a guess until you give a little more info.

FWIW, I was going to go with tame idle and about 500RWHP, I had a cam specced for my LSX, it was 216/214 .561/.559 113+2.
Would have been stock like idle, torquey down low, and made good power within stock redline

pretty much got it narrowed down to one of the following:

Lingenfelter 74220 Camshaft L98, LT1, LT4 1987 - 1996 TPI - Hydraulic Roller 215/220 .534/.544 HR114

Lingenfelter 74211 Camshaft L98, LT1, LT4 1987 - 1996 TPI - Hydraulic Roller 211/219 .530/.560 HR112

or a factory lt4 cam.

will the 219 cam give me the most power? im told it will idle similar to a hotcam, thats about has lopey as id like, thanks for any help,

I ran a 224/236 114 LSA in my stock bottom end for years. You could tell it wasn't stock but it was very civil for daily commuting. Idled at 1k rpm, had a nice bump when cold and it smoothed out when it warmed up. I could run 70 in 6th gear at 1600-1700 rpm without a hitch.

The motor is still alive in a friend's 94Z running in the 12's with over 120k miles on it now.

You need to look at the overlap of the valve timing events. Id guess the 114 lsa cam is going to have less overlap and its a tad larger so if thats the case I would think it will make more power and sound more stock at idle as well.

Here is the cam card im running in my car. Drivability is good and it seems to make great power. I need to get it on the dyno. It doesnt lobe anything like the 236/24x joe o cam that was in my trans am, but still sounds nice through the open downpipe.
