Any reason to relocate MAF with blower?

In the install-book for a D1SC, it has you relocate the MAF sensor to the non-charged side of the supercharger.

Any problems with keeping it in the stock location? I figured it would be more accurate that way, in stock location, than using it on the non-charged side.

I have the stuff I would need, to adapt the pipes to keep the MAF where it is in the stock location, and would rather it be there. I dont see why it would have to be moved.

How old is the kit you have? ATI's new kit makes the MAF a blow-through.

I think the MAF works better on the pressure side. I switched to ATI's new blow through design. It made my car alot easier to tune and got rid of some unwanted surging. Also it allows you to vent your bypass to atmosphere which drastically reduces IAT's at idle and cruize.

The other good thing is, if you have a thrown belt or hose that pops off, you can switch to normally aspirated in a matter of minutes with simple tools. Might be useful if you need to limp home.

No matter where you put the MAF make sure the ducting is relatively straight going into the maf as this greatly affects its calibration.

Re: Any reason to relocate MAF with blower?

Alright lol thanks guys.

I thought there was nothing wrong with having it on the charged air side of it.

Uhmm, the kit I am getting, it was older, but the guy upgraded the blower to a D1SC, all new tubing, upgraded to twin highflows ... So basically, I could run it either way. But I wanted to make sure there was no advantage/disadvantges to it. I just thought that if anything, it owuld be MORE accurate at the stock location, blow-through, than at the bottom.

As a side question, anyone with a procharger set up, how did you reduce down from the Y pipe coming up from the intercooler, to the MAF? I was thinking of getting a piece of Fernco, from Homo-Depot. The piece with the kit, seems like it would work fine, but Ferco would definatly make for a straighter smoother path into the MAF so I may go this route. Unless someone specifically makes an Oval ( Y pipe ) to round, reducer, that owuld work better than fernco?
