Another question.

I don't really know how to explain this. I want to make 600rwhp. My s-trim needs to be totally rebuilt. I was thinking of trading it in for a t-trim but I know that with the heads and cam I'm going to run the s-trim will make the rwhp I desire.

Is it pointless to get the t-trim since the s-trim will be enough or will the t-trim at a lower boost level make the same power as the s-trim at a higher boost level?

Hope that isn't too confusing. I'm leaning more to get the s-trim rebuilt mainly b/c of the price difference.

Re: Another question.

The S Trim is less efficient in moving air than the T Trim, in other words the S Trim will add more heat to the air. I believe Vortech's website has some graphs of the efficiency curves. So at higher boost levels this will be a concern. There is also a max impeller speed recommended by Vortech, although I think a few guys have exceeded this limit without issue. The T Trim also has bigger port sizes and therefore will affect your plumbing to properly feed your engine.

Re: Another question.

Justin,

I have a similar setup to you, 350 with 218/230 cam, 1.6 RR's, ported LT1 heads and 10 psi boost via S-Trim. I'm running 9.7 CR. With my intercooler I dyno'd 542 rwhp, 489 lb-ft torque. I've added a small shot of nitrous to boost my output to 593 rwhp, 596 lb-ft torque.

Re: Another question.

The S-trim will support 600 rwhp, but barely.

Re: Another question.

Well I'm changing the cam to a TS-230XL 230/242 duration, .544"/.576", 114lsa Lobe #3315 & #3317.

I'm planning on running 12-13 psi.

I think I'm just going to run the AI heads that cam max out the impeller @ 50,000 rpm and be happy with what it does.

OBE1 95Z28: Who ported your heads? Are they like mine with the stock valves or do they have 2" & 1.55 " valves?

Re: Another question.

Justin, my LT1 heads were ported by Bob McKray here in San Diego. He installed Manley Race Flo 2.0/1.56 valves.
