Yeah the heads being LTx style on Sikora's car is what really makes him running 9.0 @159mph impressive to me considering Baxter had those awesome Canfield reverse cooled heads (I'm sure they flowed better than the best set of ported LTx style heads)..... I heard that Canfield no longer casts reverse cooled heads so the only aftermarket type heads for LTx based motors are the AFRs (which I've heard aren't that great) and Edelbrock was supposed to be making aftermarket reverse cooled heads for LTx motors......

well you can convert regular heads to work on the lt1, so you can get some insane heads.............its just expensive..............but on an all out drag motor, its worth it.

Yeah I've heard of some guys doing it but it is easier/cheaper to just buy reverse cooled heads that flow real well like the Canfields did.......

At some point you also have to think about the block cracking in half like a water melon and I'm pretty sure Sikora is just about at that point, but it is nice to say you still are using a production block

Thanks Guys ! Needless to say I'm thrilled to death.
Some more info on the car and the day,
1st pass 9.006 @159.64 1.397 60ft
2nd pass added 1 degree of timing and softened the front shocks
trying to get some 60 ft time .
Still spun 1.372 60ft.and banged the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift ran 9.159 @154.23.
We only had one more shot at an 8 so we upped the boost .
car again spun 1.399 60ft.and hit the rev limiter again!ran 9.090 @154.95
No 8 today DAMN!
After reading the data log we found that the trans was slipping on the 1-2 shift so that is why we were on the limiter (7700rpm)
So tonight I drain the trans fluid and it is burnt so time for a freshening and hope to get back out soon.
And the cars race weight is 3410 so really not a lightweight but still lighter than G.B

Yeah your car is not a lightweight by any means at 3410lbs (actually it's a bit on the heavy side IMO)......

Good luck on getting your car in the 8's (I'm sure you'll get there)

Awesome numbers!!!

How much boost? How much is left in the SC? What gas are you using, and what headgaskets?

I think Chris has driven it a few miles at a shot, but the gas needed to support this power level is $8 per gallon.

Not when you consider the strength of the LT block. I'd go with a Dart iron eagle or WP motown block (which can be B/S'd to over 450 cubic inches ). Then you can just bolt on those wicked heads/intakes and boost or juice the hell out of it without worry of the block splitting.

Congrats Chris!!! Get us our 8sec slip we've been waiting for!
