500rwhp what would it take?

What would it take to make 500 rwhp with a LT1 with a stock bottom end besides lets say forged pistons and arp rod bolts? This would be using a Procharger. Could it be done with the single intercooler P600b? This would also have to be done on as much of a budget as possible because I will also need to buy a rear end, tranny rebuild, and suspension pieces.

A good friend of mine had a 1996 Z28 with a 355 using the stock crank, Trick Flow I beam rods and JE blower pistons. The car had CNC ported heads and a ported intake and he made 574 RWHP with no intercooler/aftercooler and only alcohol injection with a Vortech S-trim and 10PSI. He sold the car and a local girl bought it and uses it as a daily driver! So, yes, it can be done. If you have good heads and the engine is put together right, you shouldn't have any problems meeting 500RWHP.

Do yourself a favor...

Make yourself a list of everything you need to build that engine and get it running in the car... DONE.

Be sure to put all the little things on it, even things like gaskets and assy lube.

See, the thing is; projects like this can nickle & dime you to death REAL quick.

You need to examine your projected costs a LOT more closely than you think; unless you have unlimited time (many years), in which to complete the project.

A procharger or vortech, either one will do it. The heads are going to need a little porting work though. Blowers like ported heads big time.

I wouldn't reuse the stock rods though. New ones there, along with either arp main studs or bolts.

And a decent camshaft will help too. I just dropped in the 224/236 CC blower cam and I love it! It has a great idle at 14" Hg and pretty good driveability for a cam this size. I haven't even bolted on the blower yet, it runs great N/A too, hell of a top end cam for sure. A little loss of low end torque, but it pulls hard after 4000 rpm.
