450rwhp then boom!!!!!

Well I just had installed my P1SC Procharger Saturday night. I got a twin intercooler setup and ran a 8# pulley. I have the mods in the sig below minus the Nitrous. I took it Monday to the dyno to have it tuned. I already had my Tuner at Carolina Auto Master give me a base SC tune so that I could install my 42# injectors. The first pass I made was 419 rwhp. The 2nd we had to add some fuel and we made 436 rwhp. The 3rd time we made 450 rwhp and the A/F ratio was about 11.8 to 1. We attempted to take just a hair of fuel away and the next pull the ring lands gave way on #8 piston and filled the room full of (smoke)oil. There was no Knock and the a/f ratio was dead on. I bet this has to be one of the quickest blow up's in blower history. I had in on for all of 3 days. One in which I did not even drive it.

Anything over 6psi on a stock bottom end = Kaboom. My last 355 w/8psi had TRW forged pistons and was putting out 475 rwhp. When I tore that motor down the pistons were fine but the stock crank was cracked & the rods and crank had been twisting tearing up the bearings so even with the better pistons everything else was ready to go. At least you can stroke it now, Thats what I did and lowered the compression to 9.5 with all forged bottom end so no more worries. Good Luck

Mine was the same way. No knock. 11.2:1 to 11.8:1 AFR All I got was about 1000 street miles out of it before two ring lands let go.

That sucks... Hope you knew you'd have to join the rebuild club when you bought the blower. At least now you can drop the compression and crank the boost. good luck.

Sorry it blew up But hopefully it will be a cautionary tale for people considering SC on a stock bottom end. Yep, there are outliers. But what happened to you is probably more common than the SC/stock bottom end combos that run for years. I ran mine with 6psi for a season and a half. Cranked up the boost, and ka-boom in ~500 miles.

Sorry to hear about that...How do you like Jeff Creech's tuning, I have been recommended to him and am going to go see him next week.

Well that's just sick!
Sorry to hear about that.

I got nearly 1,200 miles out of mine before I blew the stock motor.
I think maybe you DID set some sort of record!!!

My condolences on the misfortune,
best of luck with the rebuild!

Wow...you were making good power too. I too wonder how much timing you were running. Good luck on the rebuild

Hey man Jeff C's tuning is the best !!! We would have made more power had it not blown. I had not even opened the cut out yet either. You will not regret getting the tuning from him. I will be back on the dyno tommorow with my new forged 355 with 8.75:1 comp. . I will let yall know what it does. I did not change nothing really but the compression.
