3800 S/c Bov
3800 S/c Bov
Will a BOV fit on a GM 3800 Series II S/C engine? If so where does it go and what brands will work? If anyone could point me in the direction of a 3800 message board I would be greatful
BOV won't work. Do a search and find out what a BOV is and how it works. Then you will understand why it won't work on the roots blower on a 3800. Go to www.clubgp.com and check out the message forum there. I remember seeing several posts asking this. Do a search over there and you will get very specific info.
Sorry it won't work, I would like to have that cool hissss when I get out of boost in my GP. It would be kind of pointless on an automatic car but it would still sound cool

The 3800 series II has a bypass valve.. not a Blow off Valve. The design of the bypass doesn't really allow it to be easily used on other cars either.. if you want a junkyard bypass turbo volvo 740's or turbo saabs have good bypass valves. If you want JY BOV's I heard the DSM ones are good but don't know what other cars you could get one from. Maybe some old supra's or something?
ohh.. damn I read the question wrong! I thought he was asking if a stock 3800 s/c bov (which doesn't exist) would work on a supercharged lt1. Yeah, there is no reason to but a BOV on a s/c 3800.. but you could if you really wanted I guess... either tap a really big hole in the lower intake manifold or install a spacer or intercooler with a port on it that you put a bov on.
