229/245 114lsa cam for turbo; what do you think?

This was a custom grind the car came with when I bought it with the S-trim, heads, 396, etc. Runs 10psi at 6,000.
I'm thinking about putting a T-76 on there. I'm more interested in performance on the street and being able to actually drive it on a short trip with some practicality than I am in high rmp performance. What do you think about keeping this cam?

Well, I am no expert, but usually turbo and s/c cams are similar, but different. If you're not going for all out power, I dont think it would hurt you much if thats what you're asking, but we would need full specs on the cam like valve timing events to figure out the overlap and such. Obviously a custom cam is just that, for a custom application. If by chance you dont want to use this cam, I might be interested in it for my setup so let me know. Good luck with the build.

The timing at .05 is

intake 4 BTDC 44 ABDC
exhaust 60 BBDC 4 ATDC

The cam sounds very mean. My gas mileage is very poor though. About 18 on the highway. Most of that might be the tune though. I think it's running really rich; the interior always smells like gas.

And the guy I bought the car from copied his setup supposedly from LJ. "Little Jim" I think. So the cam is probably what he had in his car. I would sell it if I go with a new cam.

Thats the biggest split I have seen - get something spec'd for your setup.

I have a 218/224 Comp with 113 LSA that I'm putting in. The guy he copied the other cam off was Little Jeff from California who ran some incredible time with an S-trim vortech. Again I think it's probably the same cam he had.

My 224/236-114 works pretty dang good with my T76 and that cam isn't too different.

Yea EMike, I read some other threads you posted on about cams for a turbo. I liked one statement of yours particularly where you said you have to get a cam that's a turbo cam or it won't work right. Just kidding, you said the opposite, that you'll probably be fine if you cam it like you normally would. I put it in today; hopefully I'll have it running tomorrow.
