A-1000 Fuel Pump Elec Wire Up????

should i just tap into the factory harness and pull power from there and ground to the chassis? or should i wire a seperate relay and power source for the big RED a1000 pump...if so how would i wire this up and how big of a fuse do i use in the power supply line, i really just wanted it to turn on with the key but if i have to wire a switch in line then i will.

also if use a relay what amperage relay should i use 30,40,50,80 or bigger...i am really not to electrically inclined but i cna get things done with a more or less of an example if someone had a wiring layout for this it would be great especially what pins go where on the RELAY itself where i usually get stuck like the 87/85/30 and some other numbers i take it i will be using a 4pin relay for this to?

any help would be greatly apprecaited.

I don't know what amp draw on the A1000 but, you should run a wire from the alt and then you could wire the factory wire into the coil on the relay and pump would turn on with ignition. I'm pretty sure the factory wiring isn't enough for the amp draw of the A1000.

The factory wiring is not enough for what the factor put in. Buy a wiring kit from jegs or summit that comes with everything you need for about $30.

Aeromotive sells a wiring kit for this pump, I used a Racetronix hotwire kit and wired it to the A1000.

I would also recommend the Aeromotive Electric Fuel Pump Controller if you are using the A1000 for a street car.

Yep it will make it last longer. I put one on mine. For a streetcar I also recommend a 100 micron filter before the pump and a 10 micron after the pump. And if you have had a sump put in the tank, change the 10 micron at 200 miles. Mine started popping the fuel pump fuse out of the blue, pulled the 10 micron off and it was full of metal from the tank mods. You may have to change it two times.

The hotwire kit from Racetronix uses the factory fuel pump hotwire to close the relay, so it will cycle and run just like the factory pump. Use a 30 amp circuit breaker, not a fuse.
