Exclamation 10 PSI , intercooled, stock bottom LT1 on ebay

I was on ebay and came across an LT1 Camaro, with 70K on the gauges, not known on the actual engine. It is runnin an ATI Procharger, intercooled , 10 PSI ... it has a few other minor mods ... ran like a 12.5@112 i think ? but at any rate, its on the stock bottom end and stock rear. Wouldnt you guys say that 10 psi is too much for a 10.5:1 STOCK bottom, even if it is intercooled. I posted this in the LT1 tech forum, didnt really get too many awnsers ...

Almost the same as my car ... vortech here though.

It's only a matter of time before the rebuild.

Thats what i thought , but some of the guys in the LT1 Tech seemed to think that since it was intercooled it wasnt as bad for it and it would be relaible ... 425+ RWHP from boost , on stock bottom tho is far from what id call reliable lol

There is no such thing as reliable. I have noticed some of the people over in the LT1-Tech forum that answer question regarding blowers and have no clue what they are talking about. Stock LT1 motors are not designed for boost. So in reality any kind of boost is bad and will affect the life of the bottom end. Although I have seen some people run 8lbs of boost out of their stock short blocks for years without any problems. For the most part people usually end up rebuilding their bottom end after a few months of bolting on their blower. So my recommendation to anyone is if you can not afford a rebuild than a supercharger is not for you.

Yea i hear ya lol ... 10.5:1 ... on crappy stock pistons ... the stock rods and crank seem to be fairly reliable tho ... only major problems i hear about the most with LT1's as far as needing a rebuild is the ring lands take a dump ... Not that it matters tho becuase im not going to run boost for quite a while till im done with school , or at least untill i have enough cash to build the bottom with lower comp and then get twin turbos ... so i think for now , the cheaper thing for me would be to juice the beyotch

Watch , ill spray and the first time i do it ill blow it up Sounds like my luck ... lol

probs

They will see probs with the pistons before they do the bottom end. Bottom is bulletproof comapred to the pistons. Also I feel 10 psi would be ok intercooled with W/B tuning only though and would also do the compression check before buy.

Ive been running 9 lbs of boost for over a year now, I have dozens of low 12 passes nad run the crap out of it on the street, on my stock bottom end and rear my best time so far is a 12.2 @ 115 MPH it really depends on how it was taken care of.
