SLP Craftsman stubby spark plug socket

I have Pacesetter Mid headers. I had someone else try to pull my back drivers plug and they could not get it without this. He's been a certified tech for 12 years and none of his tools or tricks worked. It fits on and you use a 19mm wrench to loosen it. This thing is a real life saver.http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I use one of those too. That and a ratcheting box end, makes it a whole lot easier.

SLP is basically buying a less-than-$5 5/8" spark plug socket, cutting it down, and charging you $30 for it....... think about it. You could do the same thing with a Craftsman socket and a hacksaw.

I think the price is crazy but don't think outside the box like you. I now will buy a hacksaw and make my own if I lose this one.

Get the cheapest one you can. You will also have to drill out the socket drive.

I used a socket that I believe was a 1/2" drive, and a pair of vice grips.

They did something similar with are Z28s and TransAms. They just did some simple boltons and called them either a SS or Firehawk. Did it myself and safed alot more than $30.

just buy a set of Go-Thru sockets. Local advance auto parts has a full set for 15 bucks. works great for that and other projects.

I have a "collapsing" socket from The Eastwood Company - not sure if they make it any more. Its has three telescoping sections that allow it to collapse to 3/4" to get it over the plug. Than as you push it down over the hex on the plug, the upper sections pop out, and each has a hex on it that can be turned with a wrench.
