Hey guys,

I recently ordered my pacesetter longtubes pacesetter offroad y pipe and hooker catback from summit racing. Both came in today. I took the y pipe and catback out of the box and tried mating up the i-pipe from the catback to the end of the y-pipe and the y-pipe diameter is barely too large to fit into the i-pipe. I havent attempted install yet but I can already see that this is going to be a problem. What to do?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I bought my car and it had a 3" hooker catback with stock manifolds and cat converter. When i installed pacesetter LTs and y pipe, i had to cut off some of the hooker catback (around the driveshaft), then go to autozone and get a 3" ID to 3" ID pipe adaptor with 2 3" clamps: it was like $10. Or you could take it down to a muffler shop and have them weld it together.

 

sweet. Thats what i figured. Thx so much for the info. Did you have to shorten the length of the catback at all in order to make the tips line up flush with the bumper? Or do the pacesetter off road y and hooker catback lengths from the factory line up well??

I cut (catback) on the front side (toward engine) and did not fully tighten down everything till I like the way it looked. Then tightened starting at the front and worked my way back. My tips are slightly recessed into the bumper, not exactly flush. Also, I used copper sealing gasket where ever I had the pipes clamped. No leaks detected so far. Toss the crap paper gaskets they give you and use good ones. Lots of good info for install with a search. Hope that helps.

My friend has this setup on his '94 Z. As far as I know no major modifications were necessary. It sounds pretty good, you should like it. (Granted he has a hotcam)
