Pacesetter headers

Ok so my question is I have a 1994 Z28 and I am wondering which headers to buy should I buy.... I am new to modding my car and right now it is completely stock. I have seen alot of people are using pacesetter but they are cheap compared to everyone else. I basically wanna know if they give the same performance as a higher priced headers or at least come close. I already know that I want to get the SLP loudmouth exhaust because i love the loud raspy sound. Also I am in AZ and i dunno if i need to get mid length headers or long tube and also im pretty sure i need a catted y pipe right?

On an otherwise stock car, I doubt you would see any noticeable differences (power wise) between pacesetter longtubes and more expensive longtubes.

People are happy with them because they are relatively inexpensive, and seem to work well. I love mine, they fit fine and are good enough quality for me. On the other hand, you get what you pay for. I have heard of the ceramic coating coming off prematurely on Pacesetters, as well as poor welds and poor fit.

It really just depends on how much you want to spend, mixed with your long term goals.

Pacesetters are a good bang for the buck.. If you want a bit etter ones Jet-Hots are the next step.. Then kooks would be next on our list...

i currently have pacesetters, and i love them. Most the people with fbodys that i know run pacesetters. I would recommend them to anyone, get them coated by jethot or some other place though.

Love my Jet Hot headers. Had them on my Z for almost a year. So far so good.

I got Pacesetter LT's also. They fit perfect, but the coating came off on the bottom of the headers. Yet the top of the headers look only a couple of months old.

Pacesetters will outlast the car...

There's a Hooker vs Pacesetter thread around here somewhere.. The PC's came out a MILE ahead! -Not literally, but they compared MUCH better than the Hookers.

Is the y-pipe a quality piece? Is there a flange to bolt to from the header to the Y or do you have to have one welded on?

i believe on pacesetters, the y-pipe is a slip-fit piece

right here ppl. This should get stickied:

Main issues with these two brands is: flange thickness, flow paths, coatings, plug access, weld quality, and most of all price. I'm waiting for my kooks to be delivered

I'll be going w/Pacesetter non-smog longtubes on the '93 due to price & fit. The Kooks that are on my '95 will be overkill until it's all dialed in running regularly and all the gremlins worked out, and, IMO, a little overpriced, even if they are stainless steel.

Pacesetter gasket's suck

I also have pacesetter long tube headers. I really like them, they fit well, coating is good and they don't sit as low as the SLP's. But the gaskets they come with BLOW! Get perceys seal for good or some nice mr. gasket's. The pacesetter ones are made out of some stupid paper crap, which I dont understand. I have the crap-o-gaskets on there now and now I have a leak on my drivers side! Arg! Anyways, take care!
