Hooker vs Pace Setter long tubes - pics inside...
Hey guys, with the pics and comparison talks of the Hooker Long Tubes vs the Pace Setter Long Tubes, I thought you might get some use out of some pics
In these pics, the Hookers have the collector flange. The Pace Setters are slip fit.

First pic is the Pace Setter. Second is the Hooker. Pace Setter gives a larger dimple than Hooker does so there is room for a wrench. This cuts down a little on flow but makes install much easier.

Look at the difference in the flanges.
Pace Setter has a MUCH thicker flange!

Well, there you go. Some side by side comparison shots for those looking to buy a set of long tubes and thinking about either of these.
The coating on the Hookers is done by Paul Barry. That coating is proven and I know works and stays looking good. Paul does an excellent job. The coating on the Pace Setters look good but I have no data on those as to how long it lasts, does it discolor, etc.
Also, there is a decent weight difference. The Hooker long tubes weigh in at 24 lbs. The Pace Setters are 30 lbs. Not all of that can be in the heavier duty flanges and also some of the Pace Setter tubes are considerably shorter than the counterpart Hookers. Sooo, Pace Setter must be using some better/thicker metal for their tubing as well since they are so much heavier and there is less "footage" of tubing.

I've been seeing a lot of questions about these Pace Setters lately and since I had a set in my garage, I thought these comparison pics might be useful for somebody

The Pace Setters are for a friend of mine. The Hookers are an extra set I have... might stick them on the convertible? Not sure though so who knows, I might end up selling them later down the road
Re: Hooker vs Pace Setter long tubes - pics inside...
Man, I wish they would have put that much thought into the shorties. Cuz mine were done with some real crappy quality. Cant get bolts in or out to save your life, and the welds look like a 2 year old did them.
Re: Hooker vs Pace Setter long tubes - pics inside...
MY GOD!
how on earth do you get to those bolts and plugs!!!
i'm glad i have an LS1....i can check torque on all bolts with one wrench, and do all the plugs in 30min!!

I just installed the pacesetter mids on my car over the weekend. Those dimples for the header bolts would have made the job 10x easier! Among other things.....
Re: Hooker vs Pace Setter long tubes - pics inside...
Thanks Brent. Awesome comparison! I think Im gonna give the Pacesetters a try. Cant beat the price, especially with the gp going on and all.
Re: Hooker vs Pace Setter long tubes - pics inside...
I was gonna get the Pace Setters from ebay but was afraid they weren't very good quality but DAMN they look nice. Great job with the pics, thanks.
Re: Hooker vs Pace Setter long tubes - pics inside...
OFF TOPIC: But the black paint is only shipping paint so they don't get scratched, its supposed to burn off fast.
Great pics by the way. Keep up the good work
